What's in front of the brown Volvo 340 on the right? And come to that, what's on front of the Escort estate to it's left, big Peugeot 604?

Can't make out what the red estate is centre, rear, between the Rover SDI and the traffic cone....?

Thought at first it was a Hunter estate, but not so sure now...?

In front of the brown Volvo is a mk 1 Honda Prelude I think, then a Merc W123 coupe next to it. On the left the red estate I think is a Merc W123 Estate - it's big, bigger than Hunter would be, has the right amount of chrome and basically the same proportions - think the image distorts the shape.

In the distance, row 6, the boss has turned up as I think I can see a W126 Merc S class pointing towards us. There's a Sunny Coupe there as well in front of it

Looks like something Japanese in front of the Volvo, maybe a Datsun Cedric.
Mercedes coupe in front of the Escort estate?
Agree re a Mercedes coupé of some description (photo definition not ideal)

Mk 2 Honda Prelude next to Mercedes Coupe and a Mitsubishi Galant next to that (could possibly be a Lonsdale)

Great picture and apart from the Fiat Uno, Montego and Mk3 Escort facelift the picture could have been from a lot earlier than 1987. Thankfully SUV’s and People Carriers weren’t really a thing back then.

There are a great number of MK4 and 5 Cortina’s. They all seemed to die off around 1991 and 1992.

I'm pretty sure it's a Mercedes W123 estate. If you make the picture bigger you can even see the roof rails.

It's one of the run-out Humber Sceptre estates from 1976

I'd forgotten that they did an estate version of the Sceptre, which is why I originally said it looked like a Hunter, but the chrome trim and wheel rims that looked like Sceptre bits threw me off the scent, as I thought they never made a Sceptre estate so can't be that.....

Unappreciated post, recalling the Lonsdale smile According to How Many Left, there are 2 on the road and 3 SORN - about 5 more than I’d have expected TBH!

I thought Lonsdales were just a rebadged Mazda which were a convenient way of bypassing import quotas?

Rebadged Mitsubishis sort-of assembled by australians. A quota dodge mostly, but a failed one as the british motorist mostly did not want a Mitsubishi regardless of the badges.

Ah my mistake. I knew it was one of the less mainstream Japanese makers.
Never understood our lack of interest in Mitsubishi, they have made some very reliable and well made cars over the years.
