Ditto. If he doesn’t win I’ve got little interest in watching any more of it this year.

Pleased about that. No sideshow anymore just snooker.

Reminds me why snooker can be so good to watch. You nearly always get one more chance you weren’t expecting. But you’ve gotta take it!

Me too, he just wasn't on it today. Combined with Bingham being in on top form.

I am unaware of the reasons behind people not liking Higgins - for me I'm always a fan of the 'old timers' in sports (especially snooker and darts) so I was very much hoping he'd win. I've not managed to watch much of the this year's tournament so far, but I was able to catch the final frames of this one, and very glad I saw it. Genuinely exciting stuff.
This is one of the reasons.

Oh right, not great!
Worth a read to see the full story behind this.

Interesting semi final line up. Wilson is the bookies' favourite but based on quarter final form I fancy both underdogs in the semis (Jones and Gilbert)

I can relax and enjoy the rest of the tournament now. Dont like that I feel that way but I'm being honest. He just winds me up.

I want Ronnie to win another world championship just to cement his legacy as the greatest. That said, I'm glad he's out. He just didn't seem to be in the mood this year. He's a very on/off player and his demeaner around the table wasn't great. I think I saw him pot the white more than any other ball.

Interesting to read on the BBC earlier that for the first time since 1977, three qualifiers have reached the last four of the tournament, Bingham, Gilbert and Jones.

Would be nice to see Wilson, Gilbert or Jones to win it, not a fan of Bingham.

I'd find it easier to get behind Jones if he didn't spell his first name stupidly.

I shall be rooting for Dave Gilbert to win it now. Sorry Dave, I now that's the kiss of death right there.

It'll come down to who can handle themselves better under the pressure, I should imagine. As Bingham's the only one left in the draw who's been there and done it, he must be fancying himself as a soon-to-be double world champion.

Can someone explain exactly what happened yesterday in ROS match with the re-spotting of the black. Here's what I think was happening, but I've seen people say other things:

1) The black wasn't being put on its spot correctly and was rolling off
2) It would only remain in place if it wasn't on its spot
3) Ronnie played a safety off the red because he thought he shouldn't be able to pot the red

It was definitely rolling off its spot towards the back cushion. It looked to me like that red would pot easily. But I've seen people say that they thought it wouldn't pot and he was trying to gain an advantage by having the black put where it wouldn't roll so he could pot it?

SImon Hattestone in the Guardian today explained what he thinks happened, but I think he actually got it completely wrong.

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/article/...

Edited to add: Ronnie even asked Bingham to take a look at it at one point and Bingham responded like he didn't give a st, so I'm not exactly sure where people are getting this idea that Ronnie was trying to get an unfair advantage, because surely Bingham would have showed more concern than that?

As much as I enjoy watching him play, he's a proper mardy and only seems to be doing it for the money these days.
