Got to say, dispersions improved but that could be the more forgiving head & recent lessons to getting back to hitting a fade from a draw. Biggest thing I’ve noticed is lack of fatigue by the end of the round & how high I can launch the ball now. Averaging around 48/50 descent angle with a 7 which I’m told is much better than the 35 I was stuck at

Got to say, I really favour FJ tops, not overly expensive & seem to be a good fit.

That was brilliant, so many HC golfers need to watch that!Pete has the swing of a +5, putting and mental game of a 10. In comparison, Padraig is just nuts, such a pure competitor, you can tell that he loves golf as much now as he ever has, joy to watch.
The course though, that's 5 hours of hell by the looks, and although it will be easier off shorter tees, not easier enough I imagine.

I was actually going to suggest picking up a Srixon Z Forged as they are reckoned to be some of the most forgiving blades out there - Wilson and Nike are up there as well but you can't go too far wrong with a blade - unless it's one of those Cobra RFs of course
I'm enjoying the love for the Nike VR's I've been using them for 7 or 8 years now and love them.I was actually going to suggest picking up a Srixon Z Forged as they are reckoned to be some of the most forgiving blades out there - Wilson and Nike are up there as well but you can't go too far wrong with a blade - unless it's one of those Cobra RFs of course

I played with a guy last night (caught him up and we joined up) who's just moved here from Thailand to do his masters degree. He had been interested in golf for a month, and only played once before (in Thailand, this was his first game here). He said that he had been watching some coaching videos etc on YouTube - and his swing was amazing!
Honestly, I wish my swing looked like his! If he's only learned from YouTube then he must absorb information like a sponge. I would say he was slightly too upright/stood slightly too close to the ball which led to inconsistencies with thinned shots, but the way his head stayed so still and his arms dead straight etc was really impressive and his finishing position was spot on. Weight over the front foot, head, chest, knees and toes all in line. He stuck a shot from about 150 yards to about 10 feet with this high ball flight which was better than pretty much all the shots I'd hit He struggled with short game/how hard to hit putts, and his driver was very inconsistent, but that iron swing was really impressive.
He asked me about buying golf clubs etc, I told him instead to get lessons before he gets into bad habits. He asked how long it takes to get better; I said, for you, not a lot of time at all!

They very occasionally turn up for sale on eBay, but £1k plus isn't a particularly compelling price point.
I did enjoy a couple of my Nike Drivers (the Ignite+ and my Covert Tour), but I'd agree most other models were a bit behind the competition.

Got a team match for Stone tomorrow - we were lucky enough to get promoted last season so now we're in Division 2 of the North Staffs league. Means we are in the big boys league now and only get a maximum of 2 shots no matter the difference.
Playing with my buddy who's off 6 and me off 9, should be a fun day.

Had a cracking match in the club foursomes knockout last night.
As the handicaps were close there were no shots given.
My partner and I shot 1 over gross on the front 9. We made 1 bogey which was a 3 putt from 50ft. We hit the green or were just off on the fringe on all but 1 hole.
The two lads we played had a shaky first hole then played solid golf holing every putt they had, but we managed to be 2 up at the turn.
We halved 10 with pars but lost 11 after a shank and a duff chip when in the driving seat.
Holes were halved until 14 when I stuffed an approach from the rough to 2 ft for birdie to go 2 up with 3 to play.
We lost 16 with an untidy bogey and then 17 to a birdie, which is a rare thin on our 17th.
So we were all square down the last. After a display of magnificent driving by all of us during the round, we didn’t hit the best of tee shots on 18 but kept it in play.
We were 6ft short of the green with a tricky downhill shot of about 30ft, they had a tricky downhill putt from the back of the green which was a touch longer.
They left it 5ft short, I said to my partner, they’ve holed everything all round, they have to miss eventually.
I hit my putt from off the green and it was sloooooow. It pulled up 2ft short leaving my partner ’one of those’.
They did miss the putt, it was a good putt, but just didn’t break as expected. And my partner made ours to seal the victory. We were chasing the light by then and would have struggled to play one more hole.
It was a cracking match against two really nice lads, played in a good spirit with some exceptional golf considering our handicaps and the format.

Indeed. I’m not interested in winning because the others played bad or we caught them out on some obscure rule. I want to win because I played well. There are some people I want to beat 6&5, but this was a fun match to go down 18.
I don’t think I’ve heard “good shot” said as many times in a match, ever. I would have been just as happy for them to win with the way the game was played. Obviously very happy we did.
We’ve got a good pair to play in the next round, one of them off 0.1. I’ve also go the same pair to play in the better ball knockout with my lad.

The Rick Shiels review was pretty good. Might need to get a gap wedge as the lofts are all about a club stronger than my old Mizunos.
Not sure about the Odyssey putter. It's about an inch shorter than my old Ping Zing. But have only done a few balls on the range with the driver and 9 holes with the rest of the clubs.
