All of this.

Who is Kith and why should we care? I just googled it, and it seems Kith make odd looking clothing for people who are:

Lumberjacks.
Hipsters.
Or the sort of men who own independent coffee shops in Shoreditch.

Would much rather have TAG on the branding than Kith, as I assume would everyone.

A lack of knowledge of something doesn't make it crap smile

Kith (and the designer/owner behind it, Ronnie Feig) are much better known in the US for sure, but they've done motorsport stuff before. I can only speak for their fashion but it is all extremely well-made, quality stuff at a not unreasonable price. Far better than the majority of better-known high-end brands.

(I am neither of the three categories of people you listed btw, just someone who pays attention to independent brands)

I absolutely get that, hence why I didn't say the clothing was crap, because that would be silly. With reference to the watch I also said "I have no doubt they will sell plenty of them". I don't doubt the quality of the clothing or the price of it, I just personally think the vast majority of their clothes look very undesirable to me. Thats just a fashion thing. We are all different. I stand by my lumberjack/hipster/Shoreditch remarks biggrin

I am merely offering my opinion, and it is only my option, that this collab is very obscure in comparison to Omega x Swatch for example. I also think it is somewhat ill conceived with regards to price, size, and of course the branding/collab itself.

But like I said, they'll sell plenty no doubt, which is good for TAG who I have always liked as a brand.

If TAG actually re-released the OG F1 as a non-collab model, but sized up a bit, I would be all over it as I love them, but as mentioned, I bought one a few years ago and it just liked like a kids watch on me, sadly.

Fair enough and no judgement my end, I totally get where you're coming from on some of their stuff (it's not my style at all). They do some much more "normal" bits and pieces and loads of collabs (under their "Monday Program" generally) which might float your boat.

It's not just a random name was more my point, it does bring a lot with it and a lot of people will be interested in what was probably a niche watch outside of a certain group of people. I'd never heard of it for example and only found out because I follow Kith.

(While I don't own the coffee shop I am typing this on the doorstep of Shoreditch so maybe you're not a million miles away with that call rofl)

Based on the numbers I'd imagine they would sell them all, considering there's 260 TAG Heuer boutiques worldwide and some of the watches are limited to 250 pieces worldwide some shops aren't even going see one, the biggest numbered is only 1350 worldwide which is only 5 watches per store, but looking at the website it looks like they are following the Omega/Swatch model and the cities will be sold in that city, and probably in the Kith stores not the TAG ones...

TAG Heuer said:
Of the ten colourways, the stainless steel iteration is collaboratively shared between TAG Heuer and Kith. Meanwhile, the green and blue models are exclusive to TAG Heuer, and seven models are uniquely available through Kith, each inspired by a city hosting a Kith flagship store.

I just watched the Bark & Jack video about this watch and laughed when Adrian said he had no idea who Kith was either… and had to Google it hehe

I honestly would have thought that Adrian would be the perfect Kith customer with his NATO straps, tin mugs, reclaimed wood desk, and Carhartt sweatshirts.

I was a wee bit excited when I saw the Ronnie Fleg chat about why the watches mean so much to him and that he had a collection of them - it seemed an authentic promotion of the watch. They looked fun and quirky with a variety of colour combinations I hadn't seen before but likened to Japanese G-Shock watches. Then they go and release a watch that is the same size as the original, aligned with cities that have no real connection to F1 and all at a price point way beyond reasonable.

I feel like Tag have dropped the ball somewhat, a redesign at a lower price point could have been a real contender to the MoonSwatch but this doesn't come close for me. As others have said though, the Kith collab alone will see demand spike but I struggle to see why when you can buy a cheaper version of the same watch from years ago.

I suppose it might just be a soft launch for a more widespread relaunch by TAG themselves.

The hype that’ll build up around these TAG really should throw the kitchen sink at it-a full relaunch and redesign with F1 sponsorship would see these blowing the Moon/Blanc/Swatches out the window.

Quite a bit of Max on the website, one of the cities is Miami, and F1 are there at the moment, spoiler alert, but I expect to see Max wearing one on the podium on Sunday. wink
But overall, too small, too expensive, too limited, although they have probably got the numbers right based on how many they can sell, when the original is readily available for a few hundred pounds why would you buy one of these?
Omega/Swatch got it right with the MoonSwatch, make it look significantly different to the Speedmaster and make it a fraction of the price not a multiple of it.

Too small, looks like it's made by Fisher Price and 3 times too expensive. Feels like a seriously missed opportunity here.

Thanks for posting the pics. The re-release news caught my attention and I found myself looking at originals for sale on eBay. At about £300 I was considering buying one but seeing how small it is on the wrist I have changed my mind.

Yep.

Don’t make the mistake I did.

Put on my 2008 today for the first time in years.

Needs a battery and an extra link (I’ve got fat).

A big fan of the white dial with blue bezel but will wait and see if they are released as just Tag without the Kith rarity and premium

TAG seem to have gone all in with the KITH badges on all the RedBull F1 kit and Max wearing the blue one in the post Qualli interviews. rolleyes

Popped my old one on….

Might pop it on the red rubber and get some wear out of it again, but do we think the reissue is going to bump demand/value of the originals?

Yes, I think so. But only temporarily while people get giddy with the hype.

I think there will be a scramble to pick up tidy examples on eBay and elsewhere, which will drive the prices up for a few months, and then they will drop back down.

That’s my guess anyway!
