Enjoyed the classic car challenge on AA. Though that Mini looked proper rotten. I assume they’ll swap the supercharged engine into the Allegro?
Well it does have an A series in it....

Makes an absolute joke of the ‘no MOT’ rule for classics. Technically there’s nothing stopping that car being driven legally

It does not matter whether it requires an MOT or not, the vehicle should be "Roadworthy" - although as you might imagine that's unhelpfully vague

Oh yeah I get that. But how many people would turn a bind eye to a bit of rust (that’s if they can see it, I certainly don’t have a 4 post lift in my garage).

Who’s going to Shedfest on Saturday? It was great last year, really looking forward to it. Need to sort a drip tray for the punto though.
I’ve got a ticket(bought it when they first went live) however I’m now torn as to whether to bother or not. Not sure what I was expecting when it was announced…. It looks a bit lacking tbh. :/

Going to be interesting to find out the total cost of this rebuild.

Really enjoyed this series and interested to see the bill.

I reckon it could almost as high as one of JayEmm's JDM rebuilds!

Also, to qualify for Historic Vehicle status and be tax and MOT exempt, your car needs to be in original, unmodified specification. This is self-certified though, so open to abuse.

The no MOT thing for classic cars was something the government gave us that nobody was asking for.

I often wonder if it's some kind of trap where they can then get a statistic that X% of cars older than 40yo are unsafe therefore we have to tax them or scrap them or something.

It looks fking awful, TBH.

Mark McCann talking about "making it on youtube"? Easy - start with a couple of million of daddy's money, buy a load of cars, and then the rest is easy.

AdamC: "Stand outside a car show and film a load of chavs leaving."

As for "sheds" - half of the "stars" don't know the meaning of the word. Alex running around in a 993, McCann in some Lamborghini, etc.

I'll subscribe to TDC etc and enhance Alex's wallet that way, but I would rather shoot myself in the balls than go to that event.

I did laugh when Alex was saying about taking his M3 touring project to shedfest and that the final bill is going to be over £50k, not exactly shed motoring

The appeal of Shedfest (to me at least), is the cars and the conversations with the owners. The stuff that is on the schedule is fine but not why I’m going.

Last year brought a really eclectic mix of vehicles, and had a very chilled vibe. I really hope it’s the same tomorrow.

It’s also a good excuse for a roadtrip with my brother, we’ll be displaying our cars together for the first time. They’re nowt fancy but it’s fun anyway.

Nope, but it's not really what it's advertising itself to be. It's obviously not for me. If you want to go, then crack on, whatever floats your boat. I'm sure there will be some wheelspinning out of the car park and loads of pop and bang Fiestas to entertain you/the youngsters.

I think it's really healthy too, It's showing that it doesnt matter what you own. Just get out together, meet like minded people, make friends and enjoy ownership of what you have. It's great to see all this happening after lockdown and fair play to those who organise it.

Shedfest appeals to me.

Goodwood is great for the exotica. Static supercar shows are boring. I'd much rather walk round cars I can relate to as an owner or aspiring owner.

You were doing well for a second there, I actually thought I'd seen a reasonable response on here then I got to your last sentence. What an absolute boomer wally. You've missed the point of that show entirely.

If it doesn't turn in to chavfest then I'll happily retract, but with those names attending, I am not convinced at all.

Enhance his wallet? - The guy who is clearly a petrolhead, like the rest of us on here. He became a writer for Autocar and then a presenter on a car channel. Takes a huge risk and sets up alone. Creates a number of channels with enjoyable content which costs nothing for us to watch, creates 'Mattwood' event for a fellow petrolhead who has terminal cancer, and then like Shmee gets endless hate on here.

Why? because Brits cant stand others either doing well for themselves, or doing better than others.

Bitterness and Jealousy as always on this thread

Im sure Shedfest will be a great event, I wonder if the people who are commenting it will be terrible have ever organised their own events for anything?

Actually, no doubt someone will pipe up that he isnt a Petrolhead, like Shmee isnt apparently.

No issue with his mates, just put off by his antics back in the CT days of smashing up other people's stuff for the lols. Maybe he's matured, but I don't see it, with all the screaming and shrieking when going round the Ring for the thousandth time. You don't have to like EVERYONE you see on YT, y'know. Someone can like cars, but also be a bit of a bell-end. I haven't ever vandalised someone's car for a laugh. If I saw anyone do that, be it Alex, or anyone else, my opinion of them is going to be pretty negative. I'd imagine most other people wpould think the same.

You understand how he acts up is a character on the channel, a persona. Like Shmee, when you see and interview with 'Tim' they are completely different.

Half the Auto YouTubers, I dislike also. However I don't feel the need to come on here and bh about them, analyse their incomes, stalk their Girlfriends, speculate that their girlfriends have left them, talk about their family histories or take joy in anything negative which happens to them...

Exactly what this thread has become. Bitter and jealousy.
