Needed to be an updated Lister. Just…. No. Nothing of this is attractive.

Thank you for this, you perfectly summed up what I've attempted to type a few times now but got too annoyed and binned it off rofl

There's a huge difference between not liking this and those who keep posting questioning Saleem's/Walker's credentials or accusing them of being unsuccessful or talentless. It's massively disrespectful and just shows a lack of willingness to understand somebody's work which may fall outside your own circle.
That they're successful is probably not up for question - whether they have talent or not is a totally unrelated issue.

It's very harsh to judge a descendent on the character of their forefather but expressions don't come out of thin air but due to statistics, hence why we have saying such as 'apples not falling far from trees'.
To be fair all I’ve ever heard about Fergus is that he’s a nice bloke

Plus for him to fall anywhere you’d have to get him off the ground first which is easier said than done hehe

Interior on this needs to be faux racecar, lightweight buckets, no carpet, no door cards, manual box, absolutely minimalist, full 9 yards. Make it a point and squirt toy. Oh, and needs barely silenced side exit exhausts for the big engine....

It was a bit of a lame rip off of the Testarossa though. I seem to recall marketing shots having white leather to boot to appeal to the caravan and speedboat society. It lacked any creative imagination which maybe why we all forgot about them.

So a choice between this and a Merc AMG GT for similar money?
Hmm, tough one as I like the Merc, but I'd have to say I think the TWR wins
It's not a daily driver, so why not have something a bit special and unusual.

88 is an ambitious figure that is unlikely to be met. I worked for Jaguar in the XJS period and went to various launches hosted by Listers in the 80s. A Lister XJS would be something to attract me in an auction but that would be at an attractive price and an attractive mileage. That would be a lot of fun for not a lot of money. Having Magnus Walker involved would indicate to me it probably wouldn’t appeal to me. I’ve seen his influence in Porsches and mostly they are dog’s dinners. Nothing that a proper designer would turn out. But there are plenty of people who accept something is good because they are told it is good. This is another example of a modern interpretation that six months after purchase it will be worth a small fraction of the purchase price. That’s if it ever gets made. Just by resurrecting and using a once famous name doesn’t guarantee success.

But talent and success are (usually) linked? If he had no talent, no one would like what he does, and he wouldn't have any customers. I think people are getting confused and thinking that their own subjective preferences are the measure of talent or success.

Even bottom feeders like the Kardashians have some level of talent. It may not be a set of skills in the traditional sense, or one that I admire or respect, but they are savvy enough to keep themselves in the spotlight by plumbing the depths of their own dignity to ensure that people continue to follow them.

It's the usual PH mentality though - "I don't like this so it must be rubbish".

I grant you that talent in marketing yourself is still a talent - and will allow some people to become spectacularly 'successful'/well known (so called 'influencers' for example). Whether that actually counts as talent or merely delusionaly high levels of ego is open to debate yes

Not really. While there is a certain amount of luck involved in success as an influencer/social media personality, I don't see why it has to be connected to ego. It's impossible to say what is good and bad in terms of content, as people like different things. There is plenty of content out there that I think is absolute horse st but, if millions of people are watching it, it's clearly filling a niche. If content creators are able to exploit that in order to make money then good luck to them.
