It’s a shame that pick ups got bigger and dropped the small unibody ones.

Hopefully we’ll get stuff like the Maverick and Honda Ridgeline here at some point.

I love the P100 and I owned a K plate TD for eight years,

It's not really a car based pickup though.

Although it has the Cortina / Sierra front end the rest of it is built on a combination of separate ladder chassis and Transit bits.
Even the five stud wheel pattern is a commercial variant.

I used mine to pull a 500 kg water tank and despite having a payload of a tonne it just wasn't up to it.
Three engines, two gearboxes, two turbos and a clutch was a bit excessive but I still loved it.

Bought a 2002 Ranger after that, eleven years ago and still driving it - fantastic!

Such praise for an Austin Aggro, just happens to be an Innocenti Austin Allegro Pickup. I'm surprised Innocenti wasted their time on an Aggro of all things.

Loads of Mk3s coming in from SA, some with the V6 Essex. cool

This ish. The later MK5 Cortina pickup was called the Ford Leisure. Most seemed to come with the Essex V6 with 5 speed box or automatic and they would take a tonne in weight so are actually quite useable even today. The only differences between the Leisure and the P100 was the P100 had a longer rear bed and didn't come with the V6.

Had a 305 van, in faded red, bought via EBay for £58. I ran it until the wife’s complaining about it became intolerable. It’s probably still out there somewhere.

Love car based pick ups...
My old Scooby MV284, bought because I didn't think my '86 U.S. Ranger could cope with our lane in the snow. Sold the Ranger (which I loved and would perform the most lurid powerslides), bought the Scooby and never got snowed in again...

After a good few years, many tens of thousands of miles and the carrying of various engines and gearboxes for my hot rod, several motorcycles and loads of building kit, the Scoob was sold to make way for a Jumbuck. Proton's offering drove much better, but felt like a Fisher Price toy in comparison. When the Jumbuck sold recently, we were a bit stuffed for a replacement and ended up with a 2005 MG ZR van... not as useful as a pick up, but still quite handy and goes much better than either of the previous two.

Sadly, one of the drawbacks of these small car based commercials is that local authorities treat them like their bigger counterparts - refusing parking permits, charging higher rates for various services, commercial tolls, banned from the tip run, etc. and insurance can sometimes be a hassle.

The priest at my church when I was a lid has a Felicia pick up.

Very apt for a priest imo.

6 wheel 944 pickup. It only took 26 years to build it, but they say it took about 2500 hours. Unless it's a typo that's about 2 hours a week for 26 years.

If you're married, that seems about right.

The Marine Commando Citroens were 35 modified civilian 2CV pickups ordered for the Malayan Emergency in 1957.
