It's an updated take on a silhouette rally car using new tech.

Just don't get some of the comments to be honest, most of the old rally cars where built in the same way so why the hell not build something using the same ideas but with new concepts?

This one seems a bit mad price wise but the “normal” one at 400k actually seems quite reasonable in the world of some of these restomod type things.
That was the list price. I've yet to see a price for one of the first versions for sale elsewhere. I don't really feel like doubling someone's money, but it might be necessary to have one.

I'd rather commission a perfectly specced replica of the original myself.

Magnificent, absolutely magnificent. Makes a P25 look like decent value.

”Martini” livery looks a token effort. Go big or go home :

They were small horses in the road version
Very much so. They look like they should have about 3 or 4 times the power they actually did!
Supposedly they were 205bhp in Stradale format ……

But as they weighed 1150kg and with forced induction they should have been a fair bit quicker than 125 flat out

Nice looking car though and the wheels looked great

When this was written about in 2022 I remeber thinking that £675,000 was quite reasonable. Oh how I wished I could afford it!

original 037 which was 16v supercharged through a single carburettor was quoted at 205hp. Top speed was declared as 220km/h which is 137.5mph.
0-100km/h (60ish) 6.0s which wasn't too shappy in 1981. 0-100mph 15.5s.

This is very true. The much-vaunted Delta S4, for example, is arguably more Fiat Strada Abarth than it is 'Delta'...

That's true of all the Group B cars. And the Group A ones, really.
The majority of the Group B road cars, aside from the Audi Sport Quattro, really were... how do we put it, 'unfinished', and not particularly much fun, or at all easy to use.
While I've not driven a 205 T16 road car, I've heard it's very disappointing. Similarly, I've heard the RS200 can be a bit of a pig.
Does it stop me lusting after one, or jumping at the chance of driving one? Of course not.
However, comparing an original 037 to the Kimera as a like for like 'but the original is cheaper' isn't really a fair comparison. It's a bit like comparing my old jungle records and dubplates to the digital, remastered versions. The originals will have an analogue warmth and feel very special on the rare occasions I can get time to set up my decks and my neighbours are out, but if I just want an instant hit of nostalgia-tinged music, it's simply easier to draw for a streaming version.

The Kimera is the real deal; tested and developed by Biasion and original Lancia rally team engineers and staff. I just wish I was A) Miki Biasion's size to fit in it and B) I had the requisite millions.

Which timed test did they actually do that in though?

If you're going to sticker it, you have to go all in.

Etc.

Would not be sad to have that in the garage.

To my mind the Gp B homologation cars are all the cooler for being blatently unfinished, FIA rulebook skirting, shoddily nailed together, (probably) death traps. The Gp A road cars are SO much better they aren't nearly as cool! (ETA a few years back I met someone who was restoring IIRC a 6R4. The dilemma they were having was how to finish some welds they were doing because the originals were SO bad anything approaching an acceptable modern weld would stand out too much hehe I don't expect the Italian cars were any better!)

I absolutely love this Kimera so I'm not knocking it. Just point out that, if it was my money, I'd get an original and a shlt load of change! And rust.

Lastly, forgive the digression, but if you're on instagram give fish56octagon a follow, I think you'll I think you'll like his channel or whatever it's called on IG.

would love a 037 Kimera, but that price...

but then when you see were 'our' governments throw with billions to other countries and or there friends from our money, then a Million is not that much... for our governments that is, for most of us tax payers, its a different story

I had a ride in a Lancia S4, it looked and felt very well put together. I'm sure road tests at the time said the interior was quite luxurious compared to other Gp B cars.

Lovely as a modern interpretation, but, again with oversized hotwheels wheels.
yes Mostly it's lovely, but the wheels look awful. Make the wheels 3 inches smaller and increase the sidewall appropriately, and maybe raise it half an inch, and it would look vastly better.

I'll have this one as a daily and an original Stratos in Alitalia livery with the yellow coffin spokes in the dehumidified garage.
Oh, and a Mezzanine floor built into said garage for me to look down on them whilst sipping Gout de Diamants.
Just sublime, as are the cooking versions.
