My own experiences and findings..
I have 1990 911 for which there is no sticker (No 'Euro' designation for vehicles pre-1992). So no chance of a Euro2 sticker. Any vehicle any age with no CAT fails also. With that in mind I intended last year to take the 'industrial' route south once crossing the river. However, I missed the turning and ended up going through the city centre instead. Some fretting had. Half way through I had in my rear mirror two gendarmes on motorcycles with sirens and lights - thought that was it, I'm done. But, they didn't give me a second look - rode straight past! Looking at the amount of old French bangers driving around it looked like no-one bothers [shrugged shoulders].
What is in place are a whole bunch of Crit'Aire exemptions (typically from large commercial vehicles, military to disableds etc). In there however, is a 'collector' exemption for vehicles older than 30 years.
This year I'll probably do the same. On a separate note I hear often that since Brexit there is no data sharing agreement, meaning zone camera-caught cars from UK have no link to owner details. I guess you need in that case to be caught red-handed by the gendarme (if they're not at lunch).

That's what I thought, last year I went out via Yvetot and then came back through my usual route (ex brown cow roundabout and the railway marshalling yards) without consequences, who knows if there'll be any enforcement this year, I'm intending to Yvetot it both ways this year.Truckosaurus said:

Correct. The Bvd Industrial D18E I think was on the zone border then and the tunnel entering the city was outside too. My other option, I've used in the past, is the river ferry at La Bouille. This is an anti-clockwise round the top of Rouen then straight down to the La Bouille. Looking at the zone map now (and the blue 'all-access' routes across the zone) it looks like you van cut through on the D43.Maybe wait for someone on the PH forum to feedback earlier in race week. I personally am less concerned than I was in the past (he says..)

Is that site borked? It looks incredibly more complex/unfathomable since I last looked and applied.

Agreed. But not for any pre '92 vehicle - there is no sticker. Relying solely then on any exemption interpretation.https://certificat-air.gouv.fr/
I've got my Crit'Air sticker for my TVR (Orange 3).
I'm not inclined to stick it on my windscreen. I like the clean look of the windscreen with no stickers or road tax etc. I'd rather not have it on there permanently for the sake of a 30 minute journey through Rouen on the way back from Le Mans once a year.
Do you think it would be enough to have the sticker in the car with the rest of my documents should I get pulled over?
I'm not inclined to stick it on my windscreen. I like the clean look of the windscreen with no stickers or road tax etc. I'd rather not have it on there permanently for the sake of a 30 minute journey through Rouen on the way back from Le Mans once a year.

I don't see that there can be any automatic tracking with the sticker regime. I witnessed staff (not police) physically checking parked cars in Reims, but it also doesn't very likely that they would be pulling cars over... unless they suddenly decided to cause some traffic chaos. Are there any zones with any sort of automatic tracking?
This time last year the regional zones were talking about the zone borders entry points all having cameras with automatic fine posting. Doubt that has occured (except maybe Paris by now). And as said, pulling over non-UK cars mid traffic or at junctions isn't going to win over the locals.
As I said on this topic last year on the way back from LM in Rouen there were several Police, a couple with binos(not a speed gun) checking for Crit'Air stickers. They pointed at the ones in our windows and waved us past.
I guess from this thread that these checks are rare but since it's been brought in I have a 50% hit rate of being checked for the sticker.

I took my Ford Capri 2.8 Injection to Le Mans classic last year, obviously with no sticker, as it doesn't even have catalytic converter. I think the time of day must have been in my favour, as I was able to roar through the centre of Rouen totally unimpeded or sanctioned by any authorities.

Like you I don't like stickers on the glass, however it is a requirement to display it on the bottom corner of the windscreen drivers (UK) side.I'm not inclined to stick it on my windscreen. I've put mine on a small piece of clear perspex which I blutack to the inside of the screen, so it can be removed when not in France.
