RUI, is this local Diesel E320 in a fetching sludge colour known to you?

It is mine! Lol.
Well, it’s the family car.

It’s been replaced by a Mk3 CR-V (back to having two petrols now neither of us commute any distance).
I used the Merc for a 70 mile round trip for 6 months or so and the mrs did the same for a similar amount of time, perhaps slightly longer.
We don’t need a leggy, (relatively) complicated V6 diesel for doing 4 miles a day max.
I think it will need a new turbo judging by the way it has no boost at all but the mechanical side of the turbo is fine.
It has an electronic wastegate so i’m guessing that has failed.

It was due to be advertised (with a fresh MOT) after we got back from the holiday half-mentioned in the advert but obviously it would have been advertised as working if this hadn’t have happened.

The CR-V is only a 5 seater but as we bought a seven seater specifically ‘just in case the in laws want to come away with us’ and they haven’t been in it once i feel satisfied the five seats will be just fine.

Been a great car for the last couple of years TBH.

PS - it’s a 280.
PPS - will someone please put me out of my misery and tell me the name of the colour? For the life of me i can’t remember! It keeps being on the tip of my tongue and then vanishing again.

I wondered!! Same issue for me with the colour name. Ah yes, I see it's a 280, oops! I assume you're no longer working over the border then.

I parted with my CR-V this week, in to the land of Full Hybrids - I've a readers cars thread on the go. Still trying to get dad in to a barge.

Looks like Indium Grey to me - I think it’s a good colour and not at all sludge-like!

The parking sensors mean it has Parktronic - Distronic is radar cruise which your car doesn’t appear to have.

Meant to post this edit earlier but I didn’t submit and it expired -
I also saw this from them
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/235474299950
Described as mint bodywork - I thought there was drivers side wing / front end damage. But the marks below the headlight are the reflections of an alloy and now I’m not sure about the marks by the wheel arch above the bumper line.
Even so the pics of oil soaked ground and discarded belts tell their story.

THREAD PURCHASE.

Well, actually SUB thread by £50 or so. 2003 Cayenne S 4.5 with just 159k on the clock.
Hope it does not need a new distribution like LinkolnLovin one, for 3K...

Thanks very much for the info regarding the colour and my mistake on the parking sensors.
My Mercedes beard is almost none existent!

And i actually really like the look of the ZR-V’s. They seem a fairly decent price new as well considering.

I still work over the border, but now i live here as well.
I walk to and from work most days now.

If i had more than no money i’d buy a 2019 onwards Rav4 which is also fully hybrid and a remarkably good car.

A shame as a throwaway comment makes me want to not believe the seller re anything now.
its up there along with

"...EML light buts its an easy fix to just replace the abs sensor...."
so why have you not bothered to do it before selling ........

£3,995 E61 550i with a very high spec -- these have always held a high appeal for me

Seems decent value if it's running ok, that awful SMG gearbox kills it for me though, I wonder what he'd be able to get if it didn't have that. Quite why anyone optioned that over a ZF6 or proper manual gearbox completely escapes me, I could just about see an argument for one over the dopey old 4 and 5 speed epicyclic autos but by the time the ZF6 came out in 2002 they were pointless.

I do wonder if on 20 year old BMW options like hydraulic ARBs and a gearbox on the steering column for active steering are negatives rather than positives hehe

Much more appealing than that E500 that was up for 50% more in any case.

Stupid question ,why's it on a 05 plate when registered in 2006? Private plate?

Crap private plate of some sort

Registered 01 Jun 2006 so it's eligible for £730 a year RFL, what a swine.

Makes you wonder if giving up 10% of the power and getting a slightly older 545i isn't a better choice at £415 a year. £300 a year running costs difference matters in shed barge terms.

You'd be amazed how many people don't check until after they've bought a car. I know a chap who bought a £1,500 2006 Volvo C70 with the 2.4i NASP engine and was mortified to find out it was, at the time, just over £600 a year to tax.

It's only recently dawned on me that it's a long weekend ahead. Aside from swearing a lot at the 322, are there any interesting events on?
