Looks initially like a trip to Argos for a HiSense TV then more TV manufacturers to come on board later this year I imagine . . .
I cant see people beating down the doors of Argos to buy a new TV to watch the same old bobbins nonsense...Looks initially like a trip to Argos for a HiSense TV then more TV manufacturers to come on board later this year I imagine . . .

Yes but 50% of that is for Sky and TNT sports that is a must for me.
Just a bit ironic that you comment you don’t see the point of a free platform for streaming, but willing to pay £80 / month for other streaming services.Personally I find that’s a lot of wonga just to watch the tellybox.

For some reason the previous owners of our house when they renovated did not install an aerial so we have been unable to watch Freeview since we moved in.As such I have been waiting for this and assumed it would just be an app we could install. Now that it turns out I have to buy a whole new TV I am not interested anymore.
They really are appealing to a niche market, people like me who don't have an aerial and are prepared to buy a new Hisense TV.
The other manufacturer of Freely TVs is Vestel.
Personally I don't want to buy a Turkey TV trading on a long dead brand that will be landfill fodder the day after the warranty runs out.
I don't think it will be popular.

You should be able to get an aerial installed for £150-200.
My house was completely renovated a few years ago, I don't want someone who doesn't care about my house running a cable from the roof to my front room.Either I am left with an ugly, visible cable running through the inside of my house or I have to chase it into the wall and decorate the whole house again.
Seems a lot of hassle to be able to watch repeats of Wheeler Dealers and American Pickers.

Don't Vestel make a significant number of the "brand name" TVs anyway? I read that Panasonic is one, and Toshiba and more, though I'm not sure how up-to-date the list is. One thing I read said that only LG and Samsung make their own TVs now.Personally I don't want to buy a Turkey TV trading on a long dead brand that will be landfill fodder the day after the warranty runs out.

Yes I’m all for a free platform for streaming but it’s not ‘free’ as you still have to pay for broadband. How much do you pay for your broadband?
Not sure I get your point. I have broadband now and not Freely.
If I get Freely it will be a free addition. It won’t cost me any more regardless of whether I use it or not.
At this point it’s moot anyway. I’m not getting a new telly and I haven’t actually tried it yet. It could be fantastic or crap.

Cost of my broadband now without Freely :£50.Cost of my broadband with Freely : £50.
£50 - £50 = £0.
I conclude that, since the additional cost is zero, said service has not cost me anything, and there it is indeed "free".

Paying too much for your broadband though... I want a broadband company where I never have to deal with the customer service because the broadband just works. Why do you want to pay more for a company that has 'good customer service' if you never have to call them, or even worse, do have to call them because the broadband has gone down.
