B46B20O0 and B46A20B bmw engine codes

can somebody please tell me difference between these 2 engine codes for bmw. They both 2.0 4pots. Not sure why same vehicles have different engine codes. Which is the better one?

One is for FWD (A in the code) and the other RWD/4WD (b in the code)

Those codes aren't directly comparable, but:

B = in-line installation
A = transverse installation
20= 2 litre capacity
O = Upper performance ( M= Middle performance, U = lower performance)
0 = Technical Upgrade 0, (1 = Upgrade 1, 2 = upgrade 2) These are the upgrade numbers for each new version of the engine over time.

ZIK= Integrated exhaust manifold

Ah perfect thank you. That makea sense as one is a code for a bmw x1 so that uses a transverse engine. Must be one out of used in the mini then.

That helps to understand them better now. Ill see which one is more reliable.
