Can anyone offer advice or post a pic of how the shift knob & shaft attach to the actual linkage at the top of the T5 transmission??
From underneath, there is a fairly big 17mm(?) nut from below, but it's hard to see / very tight and hard to see what holds the shifter in place and stops it from rotating.

My TVR is a Griffith and it looks somewhat difficult to get the console off, and not sure if off I would still have access to the shift linkage on top of the transmission without even further removal of the entire transmission tunnel to get at the linkage

How is the trans stick attached to the linkage?
How do I stop the shifter from turning out of alignment?
The knob is firmly attached to the shift post, but the entire post is "loose"....
Advice & pics are greatly appreciated.

Sent you a link on the other post you did. Once the centre consol is off. You then have to remove the fibre glass inspection hatch to get access to the handbrake & the gearlevr. The gearlever on my Chim which is probably the same is offset to the right on a type of post If the bolt holding it has come loose it would give the symptoms you have. Once the cover is off you have full access. All shown on the video. Hope it helps
Steve.
