Renault Captur - radio no signal

Not mine but my BIL.

His radio (LAN5200WR4) has suddenly lost all reception across any frequency (inc. DAB). I've had the head unit out, everything was connected OK. Disconnected completely for a minute or so then reconnected, code entered and still the same.

Local radio place is quoting £600 for a new (Kenwood head unit) and DAB aerial, wheras I think it's probably the aerial or the headunit and not both.... he's mid-60's doesn't want to pay anything near £600 for a bit of radio 4.... thoughts, ideas?

My family own multiple Renault Meganes and Scenics that have poor radio reception. I personally believe it is caused by water and corrosion around the antenna. Unfortunately to fix this involves dropping the roof lining so I haven't bothered.
