TVR Car Club Donington Trackday - 18 August 2023
Discussion
I have a garage. If they are Snetts or Brands sized then we can squeeze in three.
If they are Mallory sized then one and a quarter
Took the thick end of three and a half hours to get up from London. In the hotel though.
Rainsports on.
Work not done. So no swim. Early dinner. Then finish off work with the Godfather part II on in the back ground.

Good luck with the weather guys. Sorry not to be able to be with you, even to spectate. But I am only up at 2.30 am bcause of work pressures.
I hope you all have a good day and stay safe.
I am not sure I understand the forecasts on the BBC website. Yours is pretty dire, with heavy rain from mid-morning. Mine is a much drier version, with only light rain and gaps in that. This makes no sense. The wind is from the east. I live east north east of Donington, a mere 42 miles away - I am half way between you and Cadwell Park. So it is coming over Cadwell Park and then me first you would think. Cadwell is forecasted almost no rain. I am forecasted light rain.
So here's hoping they have got it even slightly wrong and you miss the worst of the weather.

Very gloomy start. Couldn't see the planes landing at EMA that were very low!
Cleared up after lunch and finished off in sunshine.
All in all I had a great day. Good friends and conversations. Gave one brave / foolish person some passenger laps. Fairly certain they learnt nothing
Financial pressures may mean no more trackday jollies this year but I remain hopeful of a cheeky Mallory Park.
TVRCC intimated three trackdays next year so pennies being saved.

Great to see everyone on Friday, Clare and I had a great time.
While a dry day would have been nice, it was actually good to get a bit of experience in the wet in the Tuscan…which wasn’t as scary as I first thought.
Looking forward to next year already, although I might look to sneak in a trip to Anglesey before the end of the year.
Cheers
Andy

Brilliant day again.
The resurfaced track had so much grip in the wet!
Thanks to Jane and the team for organising the day.
I had a great time wizzing around a fantastic track in my little Skoda. I will get another TVR one day…

I found the circuit suited my old wedge better than Cadwell, more flowing so easier to build a rhythm but that might be just down to my lowly skill level.

Any photographs or video of the day?
I normally use my GoPro, but got caught up in the enjoyment of the day, and completely forgot!. Of course, some may say that is down to old-age……
No in car footage, but here’s you on a ‘hot’ lap Peter I normally use my GoPro, but got caught up in the enjoyment of the day, and completely forgot!. Of course, some may say that is down to old-age……

How funny.
That looks really slow. Surprising, considering I don’t think I was passed by anyone all day!
I am running 245 BHP and have just been reading up about 350 BHP upgrade!

Would be interesting to see how the Skoda copes with getting that much power down if you did upgrade.

I fitted a LSD about two years ago, the best modification that I have made. Before that, it was always smoking the inner front tyre! Once on the move with sticky tyres, there isn’t a hint of spin, so I’m sure it can handle 350 bhp fine.
Certainly, a world away from my old TVR‘s!
Hopefully it will all be fine - great idea. Certainly, a world away from my old TVR‘s!
Just allow some time and budget for sorting the cooling.
You might not have any issues, but you never know.
I did on my TVR when I went for a turbo, and that was only at about that level of boost.
A word with Wh00sher on PH might get you some useful info.
He runs a Mark 2 Golf around the Ring reguarly.
It must be seriously boosted, because that car is absolutely mental.
So if he has had to overcome turbo cooling issues he will be full of good ideas.
He has posted an item about Accusumps at the top of the Trackday section if you want to contact him by email via his profile.
