Really enjoyed this program. Would love to be a to do something similar myself.
Just need to wait for the kids to grow up.
Would love to do the same although I'm guessing that was extremely tiring even with a 36 hour luxury break where they were obviously all well fed and given the once over before setting off again.Just need to wait for the kids to grow up.
You can see the appeal of the whole gap year thing in Thailand etc., very cheap to travel around and stay at places if you don't mind roughing it.
We didn't quite get the bit where the elder couple suddenly went out for the evening (after he'd spent the day trying to sort his back) even though they were on a real tight budget at that point ? Funny viewing though
Apparently all the climbing etc was their own choice...

Another fan of the show here.
Found it was as much about the individuals as it was about the journey or challenge which I liked.
Looks like not everyone is happy about the winners though: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-6898057...

We don’t watch reality TV, so it was only by chance that I watched the first episode while my wife was away.
We ended up really enjoying the whole series. As a travelogue, it worked - seeing place you have rarely heard of without realising their incredible beauty. But also the four couples were also very interesting.
It was not a surprise that the first two couples were gritty Yorkshire folk, but all 8 characters indicated the incredible strengths of the human spirit. The shear tediousness of a flight to Singapore must have taken a massive hit. A reasonable budget and a smart phone could easily make this the adventure of a lifetime.
However, I don’t think that I will watch future episodes when only wannabes apply. Remember, The Apprentice used to be interesting.

Also enjoyed it. Perhaps I should tweet Phil Keoghan and say he needs to bring some of this back into TAR.
I would have liked to know what activities were compulsory. Although they didn't win the real winners were the Father & Son. They grew so much during the episodes.

I know what you mean, but 12,000 miles in 50 days not only is physically tiring, but also mentally. You do get the odd person on TAR who has a breakdownpidsy said:
Are there less teams than previously?
I can’t see the brothers lasting.
5 teams in the previous series too.I can’t see the brothers lasting.
First one they eliminated one team after second checkpoint, the second series two teams self eliminated by cash flow. Suspect the taxi junkies might be good candidates for that if they don't get smarter.
The brothers do seem to be battling within themselves + with each other, let alone the trip itself!
