I don't agree.
I think this starts and ends with him. What started to provoke that behaviour is irrelevant, there is not one iota of excuse or justification for his behaviour, beyond that he's a psychopath and that he shouldn't be allowed a driving licence.
That it's come to court and he is genuinely facing the threat of jail is a good thing.
The idiot has doubled down in court and talked himself into a stronger sentence.
I would also bet that he voted for Brexit, supports Reform and wants 'his' country back, but those are other topics.
So you do agree then?! That the guy is a bellend.I think this starts and ends with him. What started to provoke that behaviour is irrelevant, there is not one iota of excuse or justification for his behaviour, beyond that he's a psychopath and that he shouldn't be allowed a driving licence.

I didn't say provocation was justified, I just think the lady gave it some and got a shock when there was a response.

Firstly, the Abbott guy is a tool for reacting like that.
However, my opinion of what I think happened is (given the location and circumstances):
Lady pulls out of petrol station, probably doing 5-10mph.
Bloke pulls out in front of her thinking he has loads of time to get out of her way. Clearly she could brake and avoid a crash by slowing a little (which she did) but she felt annoyed that that she had to brake for him. Happens all the time.
She flashes and beeps in the safety of her car, thinking nothing will happen but I'll tell him he's in the wrong. Even though it wasn't even a dangerous near miss. I'm inclined to believe that she probably did give hand gestures and sat on the horn/lights. She apparently runs a TV production company so will be used to getting her own way, telling people what to do etc.
He overreacts and goes mental.
So in my view, bloke gets what he deserves but lady probably provoked him, not that it's an excuse. Both need to learn some self control and patience.
Whether she sounded her horn or flashed her lights or gave him the finger, none of that justifies his behaviour therefore it’s a little pointless speculating. However, my opinion of what I think happened is (given the location and circumstances):

The part in bold is wildly judgmental.

This Abbott bloke has been told that he faces jail for this.
Am going to be interested to hear what, if any, previous he has.
I’m inclined to think this isn’t his first rodeo.
If you read the article in the Sun, he was threatening and abusive to their (female) journalist tooAm going to be interested to hear what, if any, previous he has.

I don't agree. I think people are missing a point somewhat by including the woman in this. The only part she played was that of a victim. I didn't say provocation was justified, I just think the lady gave it some and got a shock when there was a response.
He has a somewhat severe personality
disorder, and shouldn't be able to hold a driving licence imo. Imo the normal to-and-fro of driving and a bit of horn blowing hasn't sparked this behaviour off.
As others have said, I'll be interested to hear of any previous.

This thread really makes me question whether we should have juries to be honest.

What’s not on video is her starting the incident and raging him first then her reaction while filming him from the car.
He is wrong to react the way he did but I think there is more to this to simply dismiss his version out of hand is dangerous when only he would see her reaction filming him .
It’s not that difficult to grasp.
Is there anything to back up his claims that she started it?He is wrong to react the way he did but I think there is more to this to simply dismiss his version out of hand is dangerous when only he would see her reaction filming him .

He says she went nuts with multiple beeps and flashes.
She says she didn’t.
Judge believed her.
The end.

I presume you'd argue the same in a case where someone "disrespected" someone by calling them a name, and then they went out and stabbed them and killed them? Both of them are equally at fault because if the first person hadn't called the other person a name the murderer wouldn't have been forced into killing them?
It's bullies and abusers playbook 1.01 - "They shouldn't have provoked me; it's *their* fault"In the case of Abbott it was;
"She shouldn't have honked her horn when I pulled out on her"
"She shouldn't have filmed me"
"She shouldn't have smirked"
The half-wit probably didn't even realise that, with every word he said, he made himself the star witness for the prosecution.
Fortunately an attitude now largely consigned to the pre 1970s where it belongs

No merely reading between the lines as the truth is often found there.

Your "reading between the lines' strategy is just a way for you to interpret events so that they align with your preconceptions. It is the opposite of "truth seeking". Unfortunately the legal system doesn’t have that insight or privilege which means computer says no justice prevails in some cases.

This is why I don't blow my horn at people who cut me up. You never know what kind of psychopath they might be. I just give them room and forget about it.
Plus, of course, it's pointless and it's bad manners.Unless you are alerting another road user of your presence because you think they haven't seen you there is no reason to use your horn. It's not there to admonish or chastise other road users for their shortcomings.

People new to PH should be shown this thread just so they understand how weird some of the posters on here are.
The funny thing is, almost without fail, they are completely identikit, hate women, hate foreigners, apologists for men’s awful behaviour - it’s like a ‘dhead starter pack’ they all have. There’s quite a few I look out for now, the above added to the list.
