The Official Aston Villa FC thread

I watched this match on the telly and the coverage was so biased towards Arsenal. I get the impression that the neutrals all wanted Villa to do well, until they started beating the big clubs. Now they are panicking for their own teams.
It was a completely different performance to the Man City game. On Wednesday we had to pile on the pressure until late in the game to get the winning goal. Today, we managed it in 7 minutes, so didn’t need to play the same way. If a so called big club had won that way it would have been lauded by Sky and Co. But apparently poor old Arsenal were unlucky not to have VAR award them a draw for Havertz again handballing it into the net in injury time.
The stats for the match are not that different: 10 v 12 shots, 3 v 3 corners, but you would be under the impression that this was some sort of rearguard Alamo performance listening to the Sky pundits and Arteta himself.
1 - 0 to Aston Villa, how ironic against Arsenal.

SU lucky to get away with that handball. Looked like the arm swung forward and it was the top of the arm.
Yes top of the arm, so that's why it wasn't given, them's the rulesHere is the current rule. It should have been a penalty.
The pressure changes when you're at the top. Everyone had Villa winning that game with ease.
Well, a golden chance to take all three points tonight and put simply, you blew it. Why do teams go all negative, continual ball rotation, passing back time and time again etc, when 2-0 up. Strange, but why not actually try and score another, you know, like you almost did when it was 2-2 … funny that as Utd, as always, were therefor the taking as you proved in the first half. Teams that try and hang on to a two-goal lead invariably blow it, as you did. Shame, as going forward, you’re a good team to watch.

It was a rough 45 minutes away after what has been an exceptional first half of a season. Whatever Villa are doing they need to carry on.Second in the table at the midway point of the season is just incredible, Emery just keeps on delivering!
I'm trying not to get excited with thoughts of the possibility of winning the league. It's so out there that I cannot get my head around us being serious contenders. Fourth place would be massive. I think Man City will probably win it, but never say never!

Exciting times, taking my daughter to her first evening game against the bar codes. We did look very tired after the Burnley game, need a decent RB and a DCM as we struggled without Kamara I'm trying not to get excited with thoughts of the possibility of winning the league. Watching Villa v Boro and really wondering how Villa are where they are in the Prem. And while I'm at it I'd like to nominate Martinez as the world's most annoying goalkeeper.
Because they are better than the teams below them. They beat Arsenal and Man City in December.

I doubt anyone cares what you are wondering, but the table never lies.Martinez is a World Cup winner, not too many Premier League teams have one of those, he's also a brilliant goalkeeper and if you knew what you were talking about you'd know.
