The last car you will ever own?
Discussion
Hello all....!
This is Dave from the PistonHeads Auctions consignment team.
We are just having a little Friday Fun discussion in the office today.
So the question is, money aside if you could only have one car from now until the end of days, that would fulfil you needs not only now, but for the future you as well, what would be? Would you go crazy with a GT3 RS? Sensible with a VW crew cab Transporter, Supermini, or hypercar the choice is yours...!
Know need to worry about 30k service bills, or MPG figures of sub 10 miles, its just a bit of Friday Fun.
Personally, with kids and dogs, and more than my fair share of tip runs, I would be firmly planted in the RS6 Avant.
How about you ?

I honestly think if I had to pick a car for life it would have to be a self built project, be luxe oriented and completely over the top. I’ve built several lesser project cars but still thinking about ‘the one’ to crown off my garage tinkering career.
Current contenders would be either:
L322 Range Rover sport chassis with a lwb classic bodyshell. Ideally a 2013 5.0sc which has the 8 speed box. Absolutely all the toys carried over from the donor including the meridien stereo.
Merc w111 coupe with air ride, a merc v12 and a zf 8speed (big fan of this auto box!) Ideally I’d want to make it a removable hardtop

I’ve thought about this, but boring but honestly I can’t imagine replacing my 996 C4S manual coupe. I’ve had it nearly 10 yrs now and it may sound daft but it’s been a constant in some good and some tough times.
It does everything I want; looks great to these eyes, sounds brilliant, involving to drive, perfectly fast enough for roads, sensible running costs.
One day it might need a rebuild but at 126000 miles and counting that’s fair enough.
