Porsche 996 Air Bag Error Codes 85 & 31
Discussion
Hi all.
I have a 2002 Porsche 996 C4. The airbag light is on. I've taken it into a local diagnostic centre to check the error codes (£45 to plug in to the OBD).
The error codes are 85 (Side Airbag Sensor, driver - Inactive) & 31 (Ignition Circuit - Side Airbag, Passenger - Inactive).
I am reading on forums this could be the seat belt receiver error.
Questions please
1) How do I know which side to replace - Driver or Passenger?
2) If I replace the receiver, will the airbag light go out automatically or is another reset needed? ( I could be chasing my tail here as I won't know if I've fixed the problem unless I keep paying £45 each time).
3) Has anyone replaced theirs with the inexpensive aftermarket generic ones?
Pertinent & helpful replies appreciated.
