I've just read that all the S24U features are about to be rolled out to the S23U. So the translation and circle to search etc will be now be on those for example.
I would say, compared to my S21U, it's much better. The S21U looks old to me, because it's all curved and black, compared to square and gold/yellow coloured. The quality of display is a step up, and at the time, I thought my S21U was really good.
As for the S-Pen that comes with it; I never use it. I can't see what it gives me.
It's certainly better than the S21U, but I dont know about the S23U.
Those AI features have been rolled out in the oneui 6.1 patchI would say, compared to my S21U, it's much better. So what that says to me as that all this "S24 now has AI built in" is a load of bks since if you can just upgrade the software on the S23, it must have been in the S23 all along. Or, actually, there are no "special AI" features at all, it's just some very clever software, which you can now run because of teh power of the hardware.
Yes, even the S22 will get those features when 6.1 is releasedsnuffy said:

Some reviewers (who were less worried about upsetting samsung) mentioned this. They weren't pleased about Samsung selling the s24 off the back of its supposed AI, when in reality it's not something truly unique to the s24, but more a marketing hype to shift units at launch which will not only be made available to other models but become chargeable next year..To be fair, i don't use much of the AI. Even the picture editor struggles to remove items from photos. Often substituting what I'm trying to remove with another object which seems kinda pointless! It doesn't feel like it's fully finished and polished. But it seems this is how the world works with a lot of software now.

I hardly use any of these new feature either. Circle to search is quite good. I used the voice translation and was amazed; but I've no further reason to use it, so I've not used it ever again. To be fair, i don't use much of the AI. And I've never tried the picture editing thing to remove bits of it.
You could ask why I bothered to buy an S24U? I just like the look of it really.

Circle to search is a bit of a scam, in that it was kinda always there's but instead of circling, you just drew a box around what you wanted to search. And I've never tried the picture editing thing to remove bits of it.

I just wanted a phone with excellent wide and telephoto lenses tbf. I could sacrifice everything else (except moving to IOS!)

Mrs TRD got herself a iPhone Pro Max after years of Samsungs. Jesus, what an awful phone OK it has great battery life, very nice screen and cameras but the software is just fking awful. Manages to be both dumbed down, yet strangely confusing and illogical all at the same time, while feeling like a virtual prison. Definitely not for me.snuffy said:
AI is not really AI anyway. It's just a term that is now strapped on to any bit of clever software that needs a lot of processing power.
Sums it up, got the updated on the Z4 Fold 4, had a play, the circle search is just Google search, could be useful. The generative Ai, is better than I expected, it could pass a cursory glance test.
