Must've been a pretty crap cafe. Can't remember the last time I went to one and the next table was free for the server to set the tray on when bringing our drinks +/- food!
It doesn't exist. It's a figment of his imagination. He's got form, and has been ridiculed for it previously.

OP have you thought about contacting social services about your own poor parenting? Perhaps they could send you some leaflets

Sorry that's out of order. They made a mistake/distracted. That's not poor parenting.

All of those piling into the OP, some quite nastily too, I’m assuming that should the same thing happen to them and their family they’d simply shrug it off and say ah well, sh*t happens, while turning to the server, smiling politely and saying s’ok, no worries, do you have some spare napkins we appear to have had a slight spillage. I expect when they’re down the pub that evening they’ll be saying to their mates oh you’ll never guess what happened today, I was such a berk, still, these things happen eh?
You are just illustrating the mentality of many to always blame someone else.
So should an organisation whose staff member was involved in an event which a person was injured, had to dial 999, with potential long term scarring just simply shrug their shoulders?

Or should they follow RIDDOR (legal require) and properly investigate what has occurred and whether they should have done anything differently?

I do t think compo is necessarily due from what has been described, but I would not want to think an organisation that experiences such an event does not take a closer look.

The conclusion of which would be that the parents should have taken better care of their child.

Keeps saying not necessarily due.

In other words he thinks compo (not the humorous character, God rest his soul) is due.

So is basically a money grabbing, refuse to take responsibility and always blame someone else type like the OP. At least that's hiw it appears.

Parents fault or not, they should have followed RIDDOR.

Don't even joke about it. That has probably been discussed by those we're obliged to obey. Risk must be abolished!

this sort of thing boils my pxxx, why is everything always other peoples fault/ compo face.
Accidents happen, thats life, the cafe didnt do anything that you wouldnt do at home.
the health and safety culture is making us all more stupid, and less responsible not more.
None of us want to have an accident, or for a loved one to, so we take measures to avoid them, but sometimes they will happen. Its a part of life.

Agreed. You can't keep an eye on them 100% of the time.

It's an accident nothing more.
