Is that a fact that Lance was pushed into F1 because of his father or is it a case of Lawrence, who is exceptionaly wealthy, simply being able to support Lance who wanted to race from a young age?
I think it's a mixture of both. Lawrence has been involved in F1 since the 1980's, long before Lance was born, he owns a racetrack and a large collection of very impressive old racing cars, so is obviously in it for himself as well as for Lance. Lance himself wouldn't have got as far as he has, and had some success on the way there, if his heart wasn't in it, no matter how much he was pushed along by a parent. The determination to return after his injury last year was another sign that he could have otherwise used as an excuse for some time off.Wish said:
Ferrari: come to drive for us Lewis.

The deal with the pm both was done ages ago, I’m sure of it.
It probably wasn't that black and white, but I'm sure each party understood what could be on the cards and pursued that interest..Lewis: get news and I will come ….

It does seem implausible that Lewis decided to switch to Ferrari without knowing something good was probably about to happen at the team, turns out that 'something' was probably Newey already courting the idea, and perhaps also being told Lewis was interested, if he was interested.
This talent dump at Ferrari can't have been organic and coincidental.

Lewis was jumping no matter what.
The Ferrari is a good car and it's a great move for him even without an AN TD.

He looks absolutely knackered. A break will do him good.
Almost everything he said sounded like he was off to retire or was all of the "maybe get a motorhome and travel down through France" and so on what he is now planning for the rest of 2024?

The history of F1 success is the right people seeing the other right people moving in a certain direction and then all the right people happily ending up in one place. That doesn't just happen, there's always a person/team orchestrating that movement if they can.

Perhaps you're right, perhaps Lewis was determined to leave no matter what. But the moment someone like Lewis or Newey shows the faintest interest in Ferrari, the other will be made aware of that because of course both are more likely to commit if they think the other is on the cards.

Adrian is 65, and he looked it today. I'm less convinced he will do another team than i was this morning. I suspect he will take a break now and see how he feels in 6 months. The history of F1 success is the right people seeing the other right people moving in a certain direction and then all the right people happily ending up in one place. As someone who went through karting from a young age, thats fair....732NM said:

He's got the best part of a year off other than saying some wise words to the press about the RB17 ahead of it instantly selling out.

Adrian Newey is 65 years old. He’s been married several times and he’s admitted some of those marriages failed because of his work. He has said several times in the past how he’d like to build a boat and sail the world. I believe he now has the boat and is married and has built up a good nest egg from being highly paid. He’s also got involved in historic racing with his son.
What does a man in that position do with his life? Does he take on a new job that is demanding in time and travel? Does he risk another marriage? Does he give up the time he wants to spend on his boat? Does he give up spending quality time with his family? Does he need more money? Now at 65 he can do all he wants and make the most of his remaining years. Does he want the trauma of working with an Italian team and the stress that will bring? He’s got his unblemished record of record breaking cars behind him so why not stop now?

Quite true I would think. However, he loves his work and, as I do, would find it difficult to suddenly stop. Possibly the best solution for his future is do what you state, but be in a position to contribute - to a lesser extent than he normally would on a full-time basis - when the yacht is moored. What does a man in that position do with his life? That was my most recent thought.Dan Fallows was Adrian's no 2 and he went to Aston. Now Aston went a bit awry with aero las year before getting back on track. So maybe Adrian as a super consultant and advisor rather than full time?

Secondly, I met the Strolls (including mom), the Verstappens (Max, Jos and Victoria), Mazepins, etc., during their time in karting. They were all on the same kart team where a friend of mine was racing back in the 2010s. That's why I know a few things about him. I had a less than pleasant interaction with Lawrence Strulovitch to the point even nowadays some of my friends joke that "...you (I) will never be invited to any Aston Martin F1 event...".

First of all, I’m not sure what you smoked to say I’m “combative.” It is you, Hamelletes, who believe he is some kind of god.

You are still not self aware. Complaining about being called combatitive then throwing out the Hammelletes tag. Stroll's background is well known. Zero revelations in your post.
Taking a photo of the blokes back is rather creepy, no wonder he thought you a plank.

I haven't seen the interviews being referred to, but I was thinking about this earlier. Much as I would love to see Adrian Newey at Ferrari with Lewis Hamilton, he would be more than entitled to call it quits now and enjoy a well-earned retirement. I don't know how old Adrian Newey's wife is, but I am about 10 years younger than him and my OH is 5 years older than me. We've both had some health issues in the last couple of years. It makes you re-evaluate what is important in life (and I've never been one who lives for work as Mr Newey seems to be). Maybe he just wants to relax and enjoy the fruits of his labour. If so, good for both of them. What does a man in that position do with his life? Does he take on a new job that is demanding in time and travel? Does he risk another marriage? (But I still hope he goes to Ferrari!)
