Less riding this year due to weather

Bank holiday weather forecast is total pants yet again. I was thinking of doing the Hastings rideout, but I simply can't be bothered if it's wet. Whatever happened to climate boiling?
I think you'll find that, whatever the weather, 1) it's caused by the climate crisis
2) it's the worst since the last time it was this bad.
Everybody in the North East and in and around North Yorkshire, I apologise.
The weather forecast had a 50% chance of rain today so I have brought the bike out from Durham to Helmsley/Thirsk and it’s lashed it down.
If I’d have stayed home and left the bike in the garage it 100% would not have rained.

Luckily I missed riding through the real heavy rain. But the roads from Thirsk, up Sutton Bank and on to Helmsley were sodden. Dried up on the far side of Newgate Bank though thankfully, and was dry all the way home to Seaham. The bike looks like I’ve been in an MX even now.

Same here ... if Brands first Nationals meeting is wet in early April then the Mayday run always kicks off my year. Not this year. Will have to settle for a blast tomorrow. The irony is Hastings is actually ‘dry’ due to a burst water mains and people are being advised to take bottled water! Brand new zH2 since November, with an almighty poor 400 miles on the clock now. Pah
The last 2 days near Dundee have been warm and sunny, so I came home from work yesterday and taxed my bike for the first time since September. Woke up this morning and it’s misty and wet, and tomorrow doesn’t look much better. I’ll be lucky to get out on the bike before June the way things are going.

So the 600 mile service is due today, 20 mile trip and it's pissing down again.
Annoying as I am now in the position of only using the bike when the conditions are perfect as riding when it's wet is a chore.
Yes, it's a skill too, but I get my kicks from fast acceleration, dodging traffic and late braking
I did my time in the 80s riding in all conditions as a Dispatch Rider plus the wet weather gear was crap back then.
Anyone remember Derry Boots. Your only choice if you wanted to keep your feet dry and warm.
A sort of soft Welly boot with a faux fur lining, and bugger all protection.
I found that out on my first time on a race track, Brands Hatch.
Borrowed leathers too big and Derry Boots.
25 laps with the edge of my boots grinding the tarmac on the hairpin, the adrenaline had disguised the fact that they had worn through and my little toe was chamfered
Then I went on and crashed, got covered in friction burns from the leathers riding up.
This was the gear provided by the racing school
Derry Boots, what were they all about? I discovered I had a habit of trailing my left foot when setting off when I wore a hole in one of them within a few weeks of buying a pair. Might as well have been barefoot for all the protection they provided. Annoying as I am now in the position of only using the bike when the conditions are perfect as riding when it's wet is a chore.

It’s been a decent weekend of riding for me so far.
Managed about 150 miles after work on Friday afternoon, and have done 300+ miles today. Weather was perfect for all but the final half a mile before home.
I'm just a bit further north than you and its been pants again today. Drizzle and cold. Tomorrow is a wash-out.Managed about 150 miles after work on Friday afternoon, and have done 300+ miles today. Weather was perfect for all but the final half a mile before home.

I ended up over Scarborough and it was glorious sunshine and about 17 degrees? Tell you what like, my bike fitness hasn’t half dropped, I’m aching like a motherfunker tonight.

My first ride on my MT10 3 weeks ago had me knackered too. 15 months of sitting on my backside doing nothing has drastically affected my fitness. I was really aching for days afterwards.Tell you what like, my bike fitness hasn’t half dropped, I’m aching like a motherfunker tonight.

Pissing it down here in sunny Sussex. Rain radar shows a massive blob of cloud directly overhead & weather app suggests heavy rain until at least 5pm!
Apart from cleaning the house & watching the snooker later, I have nothing to do. What a waste of a bank holiday.....
Me too. I have first real day to myself in three weeks and I am listening to it bouncing off the conservatory roof. BBC says all day heavy rain .Apart from cleaning the house & watching the snooker later, I have nothing to do. What a waste of a bank holiday.....
