AI Pin - The Next 'Must Have' or a Gimmick?

Now they're on the way to getting Lineage OS Android running on the Rabbit. It's lower end Android phone hardware anyway (Mediatek chip, 4GB RAM, 128GB storage) .

Do these things only exist because the app stores block the AI stuff? There's no AI hardware inside, it goes to online data. Everything I've seen says it should be a phone app, not separate hardware.

For a review where the reviewer is so well established they can say what they really think check MKBHD's channel.
They have reviewed this and covered it extensively in their weekly podcast.
MKBHD "worst product I have ever reviewed"...

Also the Rabbit R1... https://youtube.com/watch?v=ddTV12hErTc&si=m_Y... "Barely reviewable"
Got to admire the first movers trying to find a way to use the AI in a new form factor but these just seem like a worse idea than a smartphone.

Are they doing that though? Were these products a genuine attempt to build something new and move the game forward, or were they all about hoovering up VC money by exploiting the AI hype, so they could buy themselves a Ferrari before the bubble popped?I'm reserving my sympathy. It's hard to believe they couldn't see the products were duds from the start.

I'm pretty sure that someone got the app running on a regular Android phone. https://9to5google.com/2024/05/09/rabbit-r1-androi...
