Hi,

I've got an F20C engine from an S2000 - the engine is actually running in a Westfield kit car rather than an actual S2K.

After being left a long time (years) without being driven, and the rest of the car being reconditioned and now running well,, the VTEC system is playing up. I think what's happening is that VTEC is failing to engage, leading to the engine being flooded. This results in the car losing power and engine speed whenever the ECU tries to engage VTEC.

I've tried the simple stuff (ECU tested and using a map that has worked on this car in the past, power confirmed to be reaching solenoid at VTEC activation, solenoid filter mesh checked, solenoid completley replaced with brand new OEM part, oil pressure looks good, oil level is good, oil recently changed to Castrol Edge 5W40, engine has had recent compression test and injectors have been recently refurbished, vehicle runs perfectly when not in VTEC).

I think the next stage is to get someone to take the top end apart and see if the years of not being driven have left debris/gunk in the VTEC oilways that are preventing the pins from engaging, and clear them out if that's the case. But for the life of me, I can't find anyone willing to take a look.

Local garages and specialists either don't want to take cam covers off or won't touch kit cars. I've tried HOND-R near Oxford and they said they couldn't help. I've tried a couple of engine builders who didn't want to know or didn't call me back, I guess the job was too small.

So if anyone knows a shop who would be happy to take this job on - either specifically on a "check my VTEC oilway and pins" basis or on a more general "Help me fix my VTEC" basis, that would be amazing!

I'm based in Gloucestershire, but at this stage am willing to travel/transport to basically anyone willing to take a look!

Try TGM Sport in Fleet, I've been taking my DC2 to them for years and there are always loads of S2000s in their yard, they have a lot of happy customers with Hondas.
