Fury stated in his post fight interview that Usyk went to hospital with a broken jaw. I haven’t heard that anywhere else, have any of you?
He went for a quick CT scan, or at least was going to, but confirmed his jaw is fine and showed up to the press conference a little latePugaris said:
The ref definitely has the discretion to do exactly what he did, he called a knockdown and it was just about a knockdown
The worst part in that sequence is that twice before he kind of indecisively tries to jump in and stops Usyk landing more, Usyk actually had to gently push him to the side at one point
I also think this is why Usyk let off slightly, the ref was kinda waiting for an excuse to jump in, and if I was Usyk I'd assume that was to stop the fight. Usyk doesn't love really hurting people so he'd want the stoppage with as little damage as possible. If the ref was more decisive earlier I think Usyk would have landed more
Interesting. Thanks for clarifying. I wonder if he will remain the ref in these matches. The worst part in that sequence is that twice before he kind of indecisively tries to jump in and stops Usyk landing more, Usyk actually had to gently push him to the side at one point

I think Usyk would certainly have an even more decisive win. I can't really see the rematch happening.
One thing to acknowledge here as well which being number one fanboy have mentioned before but Usyk has big power a lot bigger than he is ever given credit for. We didn't see all too much of it last night but his trademark pit pat BANG in and out style is quite something but because the first two shots look like nothing people miss the fact that the last left hand he throws is damaging. Going right back to WSOB look at the state of Joe Joyce at the end of their fight. Felling the mighty big Fury and AJ as he has done is testament to that.
So A rematch for Usyk is another payday for sure but it doesn't achieve much. Fury has a bigger fight available in AJ so possibly Usyk might deal with a couple of mandatories? Either way I'm not sure a rematch is attractive to either of them but for difference.

Id like to see usyk retire.
I like the guy and he should go out as one of the few unbeaten greats.
He's better than fury, but fury is so big, any rematch could go either way.
Then aj v fury.
Then hopefully fury buggers off back to morcambe and retires.

Usyk has nothing left to prove; he should go out like Lennox, albeit with an even greater record of achievements including zero losses and zero draws.
If Fury continues, whether a rematch or against AJ, he has to remove that idiot of a father from his inner circle.
If usyk goes now I wonder where he stands on the atg list.... People will use the relatively small number of fights against him but fk me...... Dominated the strongest ever cruiserweight field, and then beat the perceived top 2 heavyweights of his time hoovering up all the belts in both divisions... Undisputed twice after one of the best ever amateur careers....
You've got to have him up in the rarified air haven't you?

I think Usyk should pay Fury to step aside, when he can fight AJ and make a pile from that.
Meanwhile Usyk can beat Parker and Kabayel and then walk away having essentially cleaned out the top 10 of his generation.

Yeah, agreed. I would say otherwise if there were the heavyweights out there to put him in the conversation as a top 3 Heavyweight of all time and a top 10 P4P of all time, but there really aren't.I like the guy and he should go out as one of the few unbeaten greats.

If there was a Foreman type, who came and smashed through AJ and/or Fury in a couple of rounds I'd love to see him face them, but anybody that could be as good or better than who he's already beat is either too young (Itauma) or too busy fking around with the amateurs still (Jalalov) to be in a position to enhance Usyk's legacy in the short time he has left with his athleticism largely undiminished
He could beat Fury again and defend against Parker, Kabayel or Hrgovic (or all of them) but I don't know how much that really does for him
He's talked about returning to cruiser before and taking "freak" fights. He clearly wants some more of that Saudi money as well. I wouldn't begrudge him doing that, a fight at 200lbs against the winner of Undisputed at 175 would honestly be a really fun fight.

He'd be much higher up my fantasy H2H list than my Greatest listsYou've got to have him up in the rarified air haven't you?
For HW specifically, I think if he retired today he'd be in the 5-10 range. Competing with guys like Wlad, Tunney, Tyson, Liston, Holyfield, Fraizer, Marciano, Dempsey etc.
Can make a case he's ahead of all of those, I'd probably say Holyfield and Marciano edge him, but he he's behind Louis, Lewis, Ali, Holmes, Foreman (no particular order intended for those)
If we are talking P4P and looking at his CW accolades and giving a little weighting to his amateur record, too, well he's certainly up there for representatives from the 21st century. He's not as high as Manny and Floyd, who are both fringe top 10, but you can make a case he's as high or higher than people like Chocolatito, De La Hoya, Canelo, Ward, Golovkin, Calzaghe etc.
That probably puts him, I don't know? 25th-35th ish?
Even if he carries on, I don't think he has the competition to really push on loads further.
Head to head though, well there's very few HWs he could face and I'd bet against him
Usyk will do what he wants to do anyhow that’s for sure. He seems like a man that knows his own mind.
As for the other clown, he might get another 6 months or so out of claiming to be robbed or wanting to fight everyone and their mother, and then I’d love to say slip away quietly into the background but that’s doubtful.
Now he has no belts he might see just how quickly he and his stupid mouth are deserted.

Top 5 ATG. No question. Won everything. Ducked no-one. Unbeaten. Never on the floor. You've got to have him up in the rarified air haven't you?
Plenty of fighters burn bright but only for a short while . Longevity has to be part of the ranking.
Who is up with him? For me Ali, Floyd, Rocky and Dempsey, with Joe Louis, Lennox, Sugar Ray, Leonard, Hagler and Duran making up the table.
