Here is a picture of me and my brother in downtown Tehran with a Catholic priest, circa 1977. Not something you would see now…!

Wow, 2 young boys with a catholic priest. I never knew life used to be so dangerous there.

Nobody deserves to die before their time? Are you certain about this? Is there not anybody you can think of who should have died earlier and deserved to do so?

How often does Khomeini travel in helicopters?
He's been dead for decades already.....no need to jump on a helicopter to risk it!
Ehh, Kohmeini, Khamenei, to-may-to, to-mah-to!

I agree with the sentiment but its also quite an ironic statement.

Think it will be a bit like "Wont get fooled again" by The Who, "Meet the new boss.....".

They wont give up their repressive ery just because one repressive is dead, plenty to go round.

Like most of the problems of the world, its not the folk that live in a country its the utter turds that float to the top.

Folk never learn with Helicopters, its like the XL Bully of the skies, wont always kill you, but its always a possibility.

Such a shame what happen in Iran. In the 60s it was a progressive and free country.

Search for photos from the 60s. Smiling Uni students in big collar open shirts and women in mini-skits with beehives.

Tragic. There's a special place in Hell for the religiou nutters.
Hopefully they can return to normality.

I'm glad he has been killed. Best news I've read in years.
If you re mocking the religious but talking about a place in hell for them, that doesn’t really work as you have to be religious to believe in hell.
Eh? How do you get mocking the religious from either post.

For the avoidance of doubt...

Being religious <not equal sign - doesn't work on PH it seems. > religious nutter. Two VERY different groups.

... and BTW, they ARE religious so of course they can be in hell.

For the purpose of discussion, equate "hell" to the Primark sales.

I’ve led a dangerous life, including surviving a meeting with Jimmy Savile unscathed.

Back on topic…it’s a real shame that Iran has been destroyed by religious extremists. The people we met back then were open and extremely welcoming. I hope one day they have the courage to rise up and overthrow the exremists.

Not a nice way for this chap (and the others) to meet his end, and so for that, RIP.
I know you mean well...but Rest In Peace for a horrid regime that took the country back to the middle ages?
Nope.
Hopefully the people will stand up for change?

I'm not for celebrating the death of anyone. That said, I'm shedding absolutely no tears for this one, he can rest in pieces. An evil man, and he was unlikely to ever face his just deserts.

Of course, the religious extremist nutters never see it as divine judgement against themselves rofl

Developing story, not a huge amount of information and access will be challenging in the region.

Happened in heavy fog, so suspect more of a crash than a landing...
It appears they flew into a stuffed cloud. Doing that does not bode well,

They have a long line of other evil nutters ready to replace him, there is no shortage of them, it's such a shame that the world is blighted by that religion.

I think it's pretty much an open secret that the Iranian government is just a puppet for the Islamic council and that democracy is a fars... Erm... farce in Iran.

The Islamic councilof Iran are mostly Arabs from southern Iraq. Iran is majority Persian.

It's a real shame...that it wasn't a much longer and lingering death. As others have said a particularly nasty piece of work and no doubt replaced by another particularly nasty piece of work.

What's a farce in Farsi?
