Land Rover Discovery 4

It seems quite good, and at a fraction of the cost! I’m not sure it can do things like the iid like enable features (like timed climate) but I hope for my purposes it will be more than adequate.
I'm yet to think of a feature I'd need to enable on my car after a few weeks of owning it, so I think I'm pretty safe. A.J.M said:
I can think of 3 that you would like.
They depend on if your cars had them unlocked already.
3 flash indicators.
Clock on dash.
Turn warning bongs off.
Does the D3 do 3-flash indicators? I didn't think it would do it.They depend on if your cars had them unlocked already.

Clock on dash.
Turn warning bongs off.
I can take or leave the others. The only bong that irks me slightly is the reversing one, but it's tolerable.
It didn’t as standard.
I got it enabled on mine in 2013, extremely handy.
Clock on dash sticks the time in the upper left corner of the info screen between the dials. Sounds like no big deal till you realise it’s not there and you need to look at the centre dash to figure the time.
I turned the bongs off as the same bong is used for low fuel/low screen wash/low coolant/temperature going below 4degrees/it’s broken.
Also. Turn key to position 2, out drivers seat buckle in/out of clasp 10 times in under a minute, turns off the driver seatbelt chime.

On the D4, there isn't a low fuel level bong, but there the same bong is used for low outside temp/something's slightly up with it/it's properly properly fked. And at least the D4 came with a proper clock

Turned off.
Cancelled.
Etc.
And yet… despite them all being turned off in 2013… my D3 would once every year or so for no reason, give a random bong.
No warning lights or messages would come up, it wouldn’t drive any different. It amuses and puzzles me to this day.

Once a year, you say?No warning lights or messages would come up, it wouldn’t drive any different. It amuses and puzzles me to this day.
Was it someone's birthday?

My D4 has an interesting issue - pressing volume up on the steering wheel controls can result in one of the following: volume up, volume down, next radio station, change audio mode. No fault codes generated. On any other car this would be a fault and would require investigation. On a Land Rover it's character.

I'm after a D4 in 2015 or 2016 Euro6 flavour, so am following this with interest.
They really are lovely cars - there’s just something about them - but if I had more money and more time I think I would have bought something newer like you intend to! 8 speed box supposed to be really rather good as well. I don’t think I can really offer any useful consumer advice on them beyond “yeah they’re quite nice” haha.
Although the only thing I would add is I don’t think the Land Rover approved used warranty covers engine failure… read into that what you will!
I want 7 seats and character, luxurious interior yet the ability to go green laning. I dont want an XC90 or Q7, or a Land Cruiser.
I dont like the D5 and they seem to be made of chocolate and look terrible. I like the D4's looks and load space.
I have run Morgans, Astons and TVRs, as well as a 2003 Defender - all of which were unreliable and costly to run. But the D4 does scare me! Still want one...
My AMG63 Merc is the most reliable car i have ever run. I should probably just buy a GLE and have done with it. But they have no "want" factor for me.

Also, the GLE just looks like a chintzy pimpwagon, inside and out.

Does a bit. That’s the nice thing about a disco, it’s at home anywhere really, and people won’t think you’re a tt. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/2022072681...

Oh well with that back catalogue a D4 should be no issue the later landmark and xxv editions were lovely, and had such niceties as a leather topped dashboard, and rear seat entertainment. Rear A/C is rare, but apparently can be troublesome…
Whats the XXV? I have been looking at Landmarks and HSE Luxuries... Harry Flashman said:

The 8 speed in my RRS seems to busy to me compared to my old 6 speed. If I had the choice again I would go for the 6 speed, plus the mega flush easier. 8 speed does come with the later infotainment however and Bluetooth music streaming which is nice. So not all bad!I don’t think I can really offer any useful consumer advice on them beyond “yeah they’re quite nice” haha.
