Just bid what you're willing to pay for it. If you don't win then someone else wanted it more than you.
That would work if we all had all the money in the world. As it is, most of us are generally precluded by available finance, rather than how much we want something.iphonedyou said:

If someone else wants it, they'll bid or snipe what they're prepared to pay, you'll still get beaten.
Bid what you can and walk away. Leave it to the last 5 minutes if you prefer, it doesn't really matter.

This same argument always happens.
You have to remember not everyone plays by the rules of shove a max bid in and leave it. That's the point of auctioneer, he'll try to convince someone to increase their bid.
People will tend to bid a fair price, and if given time to think about it, they'd probably throw another couple of quid in if pushed. Sniping denies them the opportunity to think they could stretch to another fiver on top

Sniping can he useful to get the cheapest price on something interesting, but niche and with only a couple of potential bidders.
If the others see your bid with a few days to go, they may be inclined to match it.
If there isn't a bid, they may well leave a lowball max bid in, on the basis no-one else is going to play.
On a more mainstream item, sniping won't make a blind bit of difference.
IMO, obv.

In 12 months time the sniper site goes away and your eBay account gets hacked, you're left moaning that you didn't give your password away and eBay say, yes you did, to the sniper site!
thisi don't trust them. Is it really that hard to bid later, manually.

Contact the seller, and ask what his Buy It Now price is. If he hasn't already published that, he probably won't have one, so he will (rightfully) tell you to f
k off.
Then, as has been suggested, put in the maximum amount you're prepared to pay. If you don't win, it's because you didn't "really want it", as you have claimed.
Ebay is an auction site. Play the game, and just because there are other people on there who act like
s doesn't mean you have to be one too.

I've used bidnapper for years. It works.
It only 'works' if you have submitted the highest bid,Any sniping software that bids in the last millisecond of the auction is not going to win any auction for you if a rival bidder has already submitted a higher maximum bid at anytime during the auction.
