I'll let you decide.......

I was quite close to this, replacing the radiator fan on my E46, but that was a rather quicker job than whatever you're doing!
Last month I had a quite dramatic handbrake shoe failure on the right side, whole assembly tore out of its mounting plate and started clattering around inside the disc - I'm bloody glad that didn't happen halfway through France. Nearly overheated in the insane queue to get into Cosford air show last weekend, again, glad I have the new fan in as that wouldn't be fun in the centre of Rouen.
At the moment, all I have to do is take the car nowhere near Mad Friday, because if I do I'll have no rear rubber left. Otherwise all good. I hope.
Won't stop me being nervous about it, though..
Broke down this evening.........
I love the RAC - a simple(ish) fix that has probably saved me from being stranded in France. What was wrong could have gone tits up at any time. Thank the maker it was 1/2 mile from home 3 days before I head off, as opposed to the other side of the channel with my mates' kit on board.

Well on the positive side...
I committed to an afternoon of charity runs round a local track before we finalised the Le Mans trip. Unfortunately, the timing was two days before setting off for France... Not being willing to do things half arsed, I always knew it would be a hard afternoon for the car. So 40 odd passengers later and an average of four laps each gives me a running total of 160 laps in anger. Car never missed a beat despite about 50% of the field having to retire early.
I'm over the moon - a great day out and no mechanical downside other than a set of squeally brakes. A great afternoon and still ready for Le Mans - a positive result
Not sure I would do the same again though, anxiety levels were too high!

Does it count that my companion for the trip discovered on Friday that his passport expired, appointment at 7.45 in London to get a new one....... Ferry that evening hmmm
I did that in 2006, found out the night before. Decided to wing it - got out of UK and into France no problem. Getting back the UK customs questioned me about it but didn't give me any grief. If for some reason he cannot get the new passport in time, just go with the old one, sure he will be OK.Eugene7 said:
Le BOG Club member - Mad Hatter - is waiting for delivery of a new radiator today...
We leave tomorrow.
What's the betting it gets lost in the post???

Oof, that's never fun.We leave tomorrow.

I know, because after we decided the six-man tent isn't going to fit on the pitch alongside the car without pissing people off, the tent we've bought hasn't even arrived yet

E39 developed horrendous wheel wobble under braking last week, thinking warped discs. So has just had new discs, pads and sensors all round at the weekend and now won't get to drive the car/bed them in until the off early doors thursday morning...
If you see a silver 5-series approaching from behind at unrelenting speed when driving onto the Eurotunnel train, I'd suggest getting out of the way.

Indeed, I'll be at the DVLA for inspection & registration at 9am tomorrow (Tuesday) morning, then at ProTuner for full chassis alignment on Wednesday afternoon, followed by "the off" at 5:30am on Thursday. I'd say that's cutting it close!
However, judging by the weather forecasts & current happenings, I think I'm best to forget about the Ultima and get myself a boat instead!
Last week the M3 had the following issues.
no interior
hadnt made the seat mounts
rollcage in bits being sprayed (not that this is needed for le mans)
no seat belt mounts or seat belts
Had to rebuilt the vanos system
not insurance
no tax
no mot
I then reliesed my driving license was out of date.
Got the car built and MOT'd late friday. It failed on a rear bush and the complete set of rear brake pipes. As i havent got time the garage are doing it as we speak. Its yet to be stickered up or has it been driven more than 2 miles in the last 7 months lol !
I was hoping my co-driving could step in and drive his new lotus elise down but no he decided to smash it up last week. After 9 years of going to le mans this is worst for organisation !
Worst case scenario will be stickering up a hire car on the eurotunnel
