I've had radar detectors for years, never had a problem with using them, apart for the time in France were I was stopped and was fined £600 for having on the dash !!
Currently I have a Laser BLinder (now called SLD920 Laser Diffuser)and the Bel Vector Europa 966R, which is a hidden device - well worth getting. THe main detection unit is totally hidden behind the front bumper, the alert unit is a small matchbox size which is just under the dash. It's easily removed. Picks up fixed cameras from 400m away. The jammer only has a buzzer unit which is also hidden under the dash. The only thing I'm not covered for is the infrared Fixed cameras and vascar.

Forget the UK for radar detectors
I got mine off the internet from the states thro' www.radar-guys.com .I bought the Bell 980 and had it delivered 2 my DOOR INCLUDING THE DREADED VAT
for £234.00 UK/euro spec plus the warranty is worldwide. Had no probles. Equiv. price in UK £399
