There lies in Doncaster a short bus lane. My wife has picked up a ticket for being in it.

Picture of bus lane...

Bus lane has since been repainted.

She had been parked where the white car (that I have artistically coloured blue) was. She reversed out into the Bus Lane. The words Bus Lane have been added after the repaint, but she would have reversed over it and not seen it then.

She then proceeded to drive up it having not seen the words Bus Lane, as she was turning left.

While I accept that I would wonder why the road is a different colour, I do think she had a more legitimate reason than most for being a muppet?

What is the consensus? Appeal worth a go?

ETA Video evidence...

Looks like a slam dunk fine to me. The road surface is a different colour, the words were right there. If she parked there she would have seen and driven over the words.
There were no words on the road surface at the time she parked there. They were painted on afterwards.

Is it a council Penalty Charge Notice? If so I have just successfully appealed a bus lane PCN from Sheffield Council (as my car has been cloned) but the online appeal process was simple. The fine £amount is put on hold pending the outcome of the appeal, so it doesn't increase if not paid after the specified time period.

The appeal process allowed me to upload a maximum of three images as evidence, so uni could upload the image of the lane prior to having 'Bus Lane' painted on. I've no idea if such an appeal would be successful as i'm sure there would also have been signs mounted on posts etc?
LOL. No the words were painted on when she parked, but she has the memory of a goldfish. The only indication when leaving the parking space that she could see was the different road colour.

I've checked the appeal form. Looks easy, so not a lot to lose by giving it a go.

Looking at the two pictures it appears they have repainted the parking spaces, moved them towards the road, so you can access them from behind and use the access road to enter and leave, no need to cross the bus lane.
Not sure what they have done, made the pavement wider I think. You have to access those from the main road still.

In the video it says bus lane on the photos it does not. I am lost! are these the same instance?

If Bus Lane was added after the event it supports the argument that it was not clear intially.
Photos are streetview and older
