Uninsured car on drive for 5 days

Hello All
So after delaying my next insurance by a few days to get the price down because I have use of another car, I just realised that is not allowed !
Should I declare sorn for those 5 days and then restart vehicle tax? - how much would I lose doing that?
The drive isn't visisble from the public street so nobody is going to check its number plate but it must be very easy for DVLA to cross reference the insurance database with the tax one to see I would have 5 days on drive not insured.
So another question is, has anyone ever been fined "historically" for this? What a royal PITA.
