Which console is right for me
Discussion
Is this thread worth a bump? It’s very old now…
I have an 11-y-o boy who’s into Mincecraft and Roblox on his own, fairly new, Windows Laptop and a 9-y-o girl who plays a bit of Minecraft on her own Chromebook and does childish colouring-in type games on my iPad.
I like the idea of a console so that they can invite real live people round to play computer games, rather than have a half-assed playing ‘together’ experience online.
Which console is going to be best for them?

I'd say go for:I have an 11-y-o boy who’s into Mincecraft and Roblox on his own, fairly new, Windows Laptop and a 9-y-o girl who plays a bit of Minecraft on her own Chromebook and does childish colouring-in type games on my iPad.

1. The machine that's has games they like. So for instance Forza Horizon is only on Xbox. Spiderman on PS. And so on.
2. Real friends in the house will turn into playing their mates online, so get the machine their mates have so they can play each other.
Apart from that I figure they're much of a muchness.

I got a PS4 Pro and I use it almost everyday since 2018, all good so far. It requires regular cleaning, though, like once every 3 months, the fan gets too loud otherwise. I also got a Switch Lite, very cool little device!
I bought a cheap PS4 a while back and gave it a good clean out when i fitted a new disk drive, but it is still ridiculously noisy when playing a game. Virtually silent on the menu screen, boot up Tomb Raider or Uncharted and it sounds like a airliner warming up. I have to wear headphones so i can hear what is going on.
