'We had a bit of an issue this morning with litter in the pits. There were fag butts everywhere!! We got most of it cleared up before 8am but I think we're gonna have 'Pit Police' at the next event and anyone caught will be removed without warning.'

The ground next to the barriers was like 'a pub doorway when it is raining' at the end of sundays session, however we cleared all of them up!! A lot of people standing at the barriers didn't look like they would have been at the briefing though, on site personnel??

Apart from that a big thanks to all the RAF personnel who put their time and effort into another fantastic weekend. The silver Saab burnt mega amounts of fuel and smoked most of my tyres down to the metal! Only problems were boost pressure leak on sat morning and blown exhaust manifold gasket sat afternoon, fixed leaking intercooler pipe and left exhaust gasket well alone and it survived sunday, although a bit down on power, and the trip home.
ROLL ON APRIL 2009!!

Good point - only drivers were at the briefing..... I guess a bit of self policing from all of us wouldn't hurt?

Not very likely for onsite personnel to litter the dispersal.

re the smoking, maybe a few large signs need to go up, especially around the food/drink tent (which by the way the food was very good).

anyhow great day for us, will be there in April everything being well. Cheers guys.

All very good points. We will have more help next time and some of those people will be patrolling the pits to check no one is dropping litter. As for drivers,,,, If they have got a stamp and they drop litter they will be removed with no warning. Sound good???

I think, due to the amount of complaints, we will have the drifters in their own session from now on. Sound good??

I love this forum!!! I always come on here after the event and print off all the suggestions and make sure we listen to the largest forum attending our eventclap

Kieron,,, I did catch one of our guys doing it!!! Any Marham personnel dropping litter will be removed without warning too. Only people who have no had a brief and do not work at Marham will get ONE warning.

I'd like to add my thanks to the station - yet again, a fab time was had by the Granger contingent. I really can't see any way to improve the day.

White Senator - performed without fault all weekend, but due to advanced rot and some dodgy police repairs, it won't see any further action. It used 8 tyres and 190 litres of fuel.

Grey Opel Omega EVO500 - also performed faultlesly all weekend, despite being it's first Marham. We managed to prove that the bodykit actually makes it slower than a "standard" car in a straight line, but then cornering was a different matter! Didn't use more than one set of tyres, but managed to put 240 litres of fuel through it. Mind you, it was never stationary for long. Also got to take plenty of passengers out.

Red Nova - again, didn't miss a beat, despite having Rob behind the wheel. Thrashed mercilessly all weekend and was never caught in a corner, despite having a lot less than 100 horsepower. probably didn't use any fuel at all, although the tyres on the roof-rack were definitely needed.

It's 385 miles to home from Marham, I finally got home at 01:30. Got a date for the next one yet ?

A lot of people forgot - I'm putting together a post to tell people how to order one if they forgot - I'll stick it in a separate thread so it doesn't get lost in the conversation

As long as people who don't have any probs with the drifters can participate in their sessions, I tried to drift in unison wherever possible but with front wheel drive struggled to get the back out very far, but think I made up for it with sliding smoking front tyre action....

I had no problem with drifters, makes a change seeing all the tyre smoke and seeing them do their bit. Mind you we were on the Saturday with less cars on track so that made things a little easier for all I expect.

I'll wait for the CD Pic thread to, I meant to do this but forgot to.

Magic day, I always come home on a high after a day like this.

The open pit for us was very good, nice and relaxing over lunch to, sort of Goodwood style with people just wandering around or sleeping on fold up chairs without the dressing up! Went from high revving engines to bird song within minutes.

[quote=browny,s blower]any one got any pics of the FLUX GIRLS then as some of us only there on sunday

I most certainly have, with all 6 draped over a certain MGA coupe, a Frogeye and an MG Midget. The front wings of the car will probably be hallowed and unwashed for some time to come.... I can't access a photo hosting site from work, so I'll try and upload something for your delectation this evening....

I think that it may be difficult to balance the numbers between sessions to ensure that the track is evenly populated and fair amounts of tracktime are had by all.

If drifters are causing serious annoyance to many people(*) then I'd suggest something rather more radical, albeit something that would seriously alter the character of the setup. What I would do, given the resources and opportunity is to split the track into two halves, one running as a simple loop to allow maximum drift opportunity, the other a more technical, twisty circuit. To do this I think you would need to open up one of the other runway arms but I think that could be done with only one additional marshalling point.

To be brutally honest though sorting out different track layouts is hard work logistically and frankly you will always get some people who moan so it's just not worth changing anything given that it works pretty well as it is right now. As long as everybody follows the rules in the briefing then nobody should have any cause for complaint but they'll whinge all the same.

(*) Irrespective of how people are driving you shouldn't ever be driving close enough to somebody that their driving style should be a problem to you. If it is a problem either back off or go past to get yourself some space. If you don't want to leave space around others then you are a potential liability yourself and it's you that shouldn't be on the track, not anybody else!

From a drifters perspective, it was frustrating to have people sitting right on our tails when they knew damn well we were going to be drifting. I think we all did our best to make space around us but there were a few non-drifters who simply inisisted on getting too close. It needs to work both ways. Drifters need to respect those on fast laps and those on fast laps need to respect the drifters desire to drift. Everyone can co-exist quite nicely like that. Most drifters will let a faster car past at the next opportunity.

I'll get some Large Window stickers made up for the ABS group in time for the next event - simple ones "DRIFTS" in large letters

I know someone who will do this for club members at cost.

To be honest it's mainly my "mob" that want to drift so lets see if signage improves the situation before we "fragment" the event and everyone loses

I don't drift but I do find their actions very entertaining and I had no problems all day with the way "drifters" behaved on the track - they certainly slowed up when I came behind them and frequently indicated for me to go past so they could have maximum space in the corners and if they did that for me I assume they did it for everyone. Part of the beauty of Marham is the level of tolerence shown to new drivers as well as those that want to drift - lets not fix what isn't broken please......

i enjoyed being in the group with the skylines for a change. it was entertaining to see one of them drifting in front of us, laying down black lines, making lots of smoke, and most disappointingly pull away while still going sideways.
