Hire car delivered today - couldn't get it in reverse gear.. ...look down and i am trying to put it in 6th gear!

What model is that then..? Only wind up rear windows, but full-on digi dashboard.

Yours intrigued,

I've got a 2003 TDCi but it hasn't got the 6th gear or the digi dashboard Perhaps yours is the 130ps version whereas mine is only the 115ps in which case it should be able to match the performance of the petrol 2.5 V6 But since it's a hire car, I doubt it somehow...

Yours intrigued too!

Is it an Enterprise car?

Had one last week. Nippy for a big derv. Quite a good wafting car as well, happy in 3rd down to 10mph.

The 2004 Spec LX looses the rear electric windows but gains a trip computer (good to see the things doing 38MPG and cruise control which is about as usefull as a chocolate teapot in the SW ........... and stupid button heater controls , Give me normal controls anyday.

must admit i prefer the other style dashboard with 'proper' controls. It has a red Ci on the TDCi dash. Its a 53 reg and from Hertz.

Only pootled around town in it so far, but damned nippy. Been a few months since i drove the 'normal' TDCi though so can't really say if any more poke.

I will endeavour to thrash it over the next couple of days and report back my findings!

Apologies to the mods, didn't realise the Ford page was finally up and running!

all TDCi 's have a red Ci VW muppets can smell them a mile away and try raceing you to prove they have the faster deisel , and it's very sad . get the said VW reps on the twisty roads and leave them for dead . im going to have fun with them when the focus arrives

well not sure if it was the 130BHP version or not, but its still bloody quick. 6th gear 90-110mph was just astonishing! What a motor!

Yeah - realised the red Ci thing as i started to look out at the badges of other TDCi's on the way and noticed they were all the same...

If it had 6 gears and bling, easy-to-kerb alloys, it was the 130 version I think.

The 150bhp version is meant to be coming out soon, so you should be able to loose the Golf boys in a striaght line as well...

I think they should stick the new 'Jag' 2.7 V6 diesel in a mondeo and see what happens!

Paul.

I think they are going to throw that lump in the mk4 when it comes out , Im going to do some golf terrorising when the Focus comes , hasnt got the power of the 130-150 golfs but it has got far better handling which is great fun
