ADAC membership.

Thread revival; managed to sign up last week by calling (intl call + germany) 00 49 221472747
a very polite lady informed me she could could only speak a little English but then forwarded me to a helpful chap who took my details and sent me a temporary membership card, payment form and full details in English to my email address. The whole call took approximately 5 minutes and I expect to have the hardcopy membership pack shortly.

Just to add my experience of ADAC
Joined one year while I was at the ring, never claimed.
Then when it expired, I got constant letters from them in German, which I didn't have the time or patience to translate, the funny thing was they were sent from a uk address!
Then next time I was going to the ring, I called them, tried to renew and the lady said there was a problem because I hadn't paid my renewal! Paid for it there and then, never needed to use it whilst at the ring.
Came back to the uk, had a problem with my daily commute car, needed to recover it to my house to swap the engine as the turbo had gone and spat it's internals into the engine and killed it.
ADAC sent an AA patrol looking for the wrong car (they mistyped the registration and ignored the make and model I gave them and just used whatever make and model the mistyped registration brought up) after a few arguments about my level of cover, eventually 3 hours later sent a recovery truck.
Fast forward 6 months and I'm now getting letters from a uk based debt collection agency saying I owe ADAC €160!
