I’ve just purchased a brand-new MX5 Homura. Machine grey with cream leather interior (seats, dash, inside doors etc).

My detailer is collecting the car tomorrow to do the ceramic coating and interior protection. I asked him and he said he isn’t sure if it offers protection from the Sun/UV.

I’ve turned the car around on the drive so the Sun isn’t on the front of the car, I can’t fit it in the garage as the garage is full of stuff.

Any suggestions how I can protect the cream leather interior from going yellow over time in the Sun

Thanks

Ooh that sounds promising them. Fingers crossed for low maintenance. Thanks for that
He’s detailing the car this week including the interior he thinks it will be low maintenance after that and anything will just wipe off easily. It was just the Sun that I was concerned about.

Luckily I don’t wear denim. I have leather sofas so I know how much damage denim can do.

I sitting on a cream throw at the moment until the car is done 🤭 after that the detailer tells me everything will just wipe off

It was just the Sun I was concerned about, but if you’re saying it won’t be a problem, that’s great

Hi Robert, yes I’m in the UK.

I didn’t know car interiors were tested in the Sun like you said, so good to know thanks. Hopefully, I’ll be okay then.

Good to know that your Mercedes interior has lasted well. My detailer has done the ceramic coating and brought the car back today. He has treated the interior leather with some sort of product and he said if I top it up every six months I should be okay.

Lunarone, my garage is full, so it’s on the drive. Should be ok. Glad yours has lasted 23+ years. Makes me feel much better. Although they don’t make things like they used to, so you probably had better seats than I have smile

The sun protection glass might have been what has saved your seats?

Thanks for your comments/help
