The Zolder weekend is all about the people, likeminded people who have at least one thing in common (TVR's).
Any competetive element is only part of the fun as witnessed by the treasure hunt - years ago they used to get us doing silly things like milking an atrificial cow.
Many of the UK contingent use Zolder as a pivot for a trip further down the continent or to the 'Ring.
Unfortunately the noise police are getting everywhere and unrestricted decibels are getting rarer as ambulance-chasers multiply.
We are lucky to have dedicated friends on the continent that are willing to put lots of hours in organising an event like this in a country like Belgium with a different regulatory environment from the UK. We are the visitors, they make the rules that suit them - we should appreciate rather than interfere, the rules promote participation not simply competition.

The chaps also understand that there are those that take the competitive side of things seriously - possibly more seriosly than ever intended. I belive next year will see the class system furuther developed to move modified T cars into a higher class again (giving the standard T cars are fighting chanbce of winning something).
Its a great weekend with something for most

There are two fast cars/drivers missing in the ranking, that's why: Jason and a certain Mr. S. Any idea what happened?
And what happened to your lap?
Mr S got banned by the sound police when him and I were having a bit of fun - I slowed for the sound recorder and he did not - he can tell you what then happened but it innvolved a lot of tyre smoke. And what happened to your lap?

Unfortunately wasn't allowed onto the track by the noise police way before the fastest lap event. A pity as the way my car's running I would have expected to much improve my previous time of 1.56.1And what happened to your lap?

One thing we must all remember is that the temperature this year must have also killed the times - i know my car felt sluggish and I know others mentioned it.

The heat did make a difference. I could do the whole lap in third gear no problem but i know the heat was affecting the car as third gear was only good for about 125! (i do not think I was ever really flat to the floor)
I had and still have the standard drive shafts in the car (the new ones are on a bench at topcats) - this worry’s the hell out of me so I have to be careful especially at full acceleration from standstill (problem on sprint, hill climb etc) but also from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd as I can easily light up the rears but with hot sticky tyres I would more than likely snap the shafts (it will spin from third to fourth as well but not as much a problem) so I decided to keep it in third.
With a decent driver (which is not me) it would fly around Zolder.
A rather nice little pirouette. That doesn't sound like Johnny? Must have been really pushing it, eh, to keep up with the Yank TVR?I was behind him having a bit of fun. I am sure John could really make it shift.

Hi guys ,
When I read your comments about the results this year , I agree complete;
Things become more silly ; just add a class with TVR's on very good trackday tires... , Toyo's R888 for example .
However the organisers do not have any idea why people want to do a trackday : Some of them think it is all about smoking tyres in a straigt line ....???
I am curious about the Overall Winner this year; perhaps the slowest driver on normal road tires who joined the dinner :-):-):-)
I am glad ,I left this dutch club last year
See you perhaps in the future somewhere in Uk, have a lot of fun with your TVR
Cheers
Paul

why don't you try to adapt your standards a little bit more in the direction of ours, mere mortals?
We are glad to have some fun with friends, have a laugh and for most of us the track driving experience is still something special. I don't think it is fair that you compare this to your world where you sometimes have to use a chopper to be able to participate at an other event when it happens to be in the same weekend as one of the FIA-GT races you are driving for years now.
We are not all like you having the most and the fattest cars, the biggest houses and the most beautiful girlfriend. We just enjoy what we can afford and don't participate for the prices only.
May be you can explain why you visited this highly appreciated event, organized by the club that you are so happy to have left, anyway?
It might actually even be better when you stay at your own competition-driven-the-winner-takes-it-all-planet next year.

I think the doors of Zolder should stay open to anyone, even regretful club quitters, and suggest we ask the organising comittee to create a special "Regretful Club Quitters" class, so that Paul can race himself, be sure to win, fastest qualifying lap, fastest race lap, overall class winner, without even having to attend the dinner to know it!
How win-win is that?
Always looking for compromise and keeping everybody happy... I hate arguments.

I disagree, it is also about smoking tyres in a circle...When I read your comments about the results this year , I agree complete;

In french a saying would say "Paul is pissing in the soup he's eating".
I think it's fair enough and understandable the soup tries to reject the piss...

- EDIT* : Paul, if I were you, I would apologize and publicly thank the organizing committee for all the time and effort (that you visibly couldn't bring up anymore) that they put in this supercool event.
