Speed Six Rebuild: Power 4.3 or 4.5?

Exactly, if only not even a 4.5 SS or a 5.0 SSS were on offer.
lolThe 5litre is Dom teasing us all I can't see them being rolled out to the public by him certainly at this stage anyway.
The 4.5 is immense but from all accounts so is the 4.3 and I just can't help thinking the extra over the 4.3 in real road performance may be too minuscule to warrant the extra £2k? Also being on the 4bolt calliper I have come up with the perfect solution to counteract the performance increase.
Im thinking CL Pads and relevant spacer from Brummie (top guy who really knows his stuff) added 304x28 J hook Discs and bells from Reyland!
Then its load up the dash cam and I'll send you the road trip footage to LeMans
Please no more tempting me either way... Ive been having sleepless nights!
Sounds like quite a package there mate! I've decided on the 4.3 custom map and brake upgrade, added to all I've already had done then no more tinkering for me! I plan on just enjoying the car after that and stopping the constant adding bits. All I will then be looking forward to adding is the mileage (a cerbera S6 with 250k miles like the Sag Dom featured will be my dream)

Make you right , I have done so much now, just had big brake upgrade soooooooo much better, just getting new dash LCD display, then get back of seats sprayed black when she goes back for a bit of snagging on body work then I am going to enjoy for a few yearsBig brakes, you changed calipers and all? I was thinking that but with the 4.3 Im going for the Reyland 2 piece 304mm discs (max 4 bolt calliper can take) and some CL pads off brummie. I just took her for a spin and Im thinking do I do Lemans as Standard in the summer then get the 4.3 for the year after as a comparison?
My head is blowing up!
My head is blowing up!
330MM Disc,s and CL Pads, standard callipers
Your head is blowing up
Hoe about this one then
They now do a rear disc upgrade with CL pads I was told that it would be better sir if you changed them so they stop as good as the front ones I am staying away from TVR garages and trying my best to stay away from here
Do you some aspirin after you have done this

Haha the rear brakes make good sense I suppose otherwise you would get negative skidding? I'll put CL pads and discs there to act with the Reyland CL front set up. Your head is blowing up

I'm a new dad so I'll just use calpol to sooth the head banging lol
One thing I am curious about is this - The Tuscan S has a larger exhaust diameter, I assume this is because TVR thought that perhaps the smaller (standard) diameter may be a bottleneck for the extra 30bhp (claimed) of the 390bhp engine.
Is this not the case for the 4.3/4.5's, or is the standard exhaust OK?
If it is OK for over 400bhp, what advantages would the larger diameter exhaust have, and did the S spec 4 litres engines really have 390bhp?

I have the standard exhaust on mine and as you know it's 414bhp and 368 of torque so it's fine, I suppose if you got a specially built exhaust, decatted, sports rear box you would probably get a few more horses been told 5 BHP more but is it worth all that expense for 5 BHP, you get to the stage where it becomes driver capabilities and nerve
Plus the blooming noise drove me mad with sports exhaust, it might be that the hatch back style makes it more boomy

As I found out recently My Tuscan S exhaust is not even 2 1/4" ( large bore!) all the way from the cats to the back box:-
The bore is only larger at the cat interface and for about half the length the rest is 2 1/8" , I doubt this makes any difference to the power output, just gives a slightly deeper sound.

Interesting, so I would imagine (bearing in mind I know relatively little) that would have more to do with a slight increase in torque, rather than BHP output? The bore is only larger at the cat interface and for about half the length the rest is 2 1/8" , I doubt this makes any difference to the power output, just gives a slightly deeper sound.

Cheers. I ask because I am thinking of perhaps waiting a little longer, maybe early next year and going for the 4.5, as your torque figures look great. I don't know yet...Is this not the case for the 4.3/4.5's, or is the standard exhaust OK?

Just ordered my brake setup (Reyland 2 piece 304x28) so I will eventually go for the 4.3. Just waiting to get CL quote on fronts and rear pads . Cant speak highly enough of the ACT sports decat pipe on my verb pops and bands like a WW2 Spitfire! The bore from the Act system is a 2.5" into a 3" tip. Ive just upgraded to some 4" tips and have listed the sports tips only on an auction site
So if its cosmetics your after check

RESSURECTION!!
As a young TVR enthusiast/purest I nipped into see Dom today... After getting to know the brilliant bunch at Topcats Racing and hearing how brutally powerful and nice the LS conversions I wanted to hear even more about the 4.5 rebuild as for me a TVR has to keep its engine?
Dom has told me the 4.5SS will blow the 4.5AJP and to make the added torque and bhp useable and an enhancement of driving he can factor in switchable/adjustable TCS and N 8 stage launch control. So the 4.3 I have planned on has become a 4.5 just gotta get Brummie to ad a set of his rear discs to my set up.
I want 450bhp... Oh and a close ratio gearbox.

After a few thousand miles on my new 4.3, I plan to have it mapped and see how it does.
I had the ACT full bore bore exhaust system, along with new Tuscan S/Sagaris cats fitted a couple of weeks ago - not sure if that'll make any difference to the remap though. I would have loved to have added those new shiny manifolds, but £3k is a bit rich for me right now..
Need to change tyres soon, even with the Quaife diff, the rears spin a little too easily!

I doubt you will get 450BHP out of the 4.5 , mine has 414BHP and 368lb/ft of torque As a young TVR enthusiast/purest I nipped into see Dom today... So your getting the new ECU aswell plus wheel sensors etc... spending even more pennies As a young TVR enthusiast/purest I nipped into see Dom today...
