Anglesey Circuit has banned all EVs/Hybrids from trackdays

This is just the start….garages, body shops, car parks (especially the ones underneath housing/flats etc) anywhere where EVs are parked, stored or worked upon will have insurance and safety issues based on the fact that at present no fire extinguisher or sprinkler system can put a single EV fire out let alone numerous amounts of them.
EVs have been around for a long time now, any reason why these places would change policies now?As for Anglesey, anyone know the real reason? Again, EV's and hybrids have been around for a long time. Is it an insuranced based decision or something else?

As above, expect more restrictions to come as the numbers increase further.

I'm sure they'll put out a more detailed statement soon - probably wanted to get something clear out as quickly as possible. As for Anglesey, anyone know the real reason? Again, EV's and hybrids have been around for a long time. Is it an insuranced based decision or something else?
Does sound to me insurance-based though!

A certain car park in Luton might have something to do with it!This topic is really outing the double-digit IQ folks on the various Facebook trackday groups. Every other post seems to be "Hurr hurr, no more trackdays for vegans".
I'll probably never do a trackday in an EV, but thickos celebrating more restrictions on trackdays should be careful what they wish for. I suspect they'd be up in arms if they were bright enough to realise that the next generation of M3/4 would also be excluded as an MHEV.

Only if you were dense enough to believe that it wasn't a non-hybrid diesel that caused that fire.
What caused the fire is inconsequential, the fact if the matter was that there were a LOT of burning EVs in the car park that could not be contained and that resulted in the whole £20,000,000 car park burning for days with all the cars inside being written off!Lordbenny said:

That isn't what the evidence shows...Lordbenny said:

But what would they know?

There will no doubt be a new set of regulations put in place shortly.
I’m sure building will have regulations put in place shortly as well. Nothing wrong with it, a threat has been identified and procedures to deal with it will be put in place. Won’t affect 99% of people lives.
As has been said this is almost definitely due to the costs of fire safety. I guess they have been running the numbers of cars they will have to ban, which at the moment hits them less than the cost of the extra safety measures.
Makes sense.

Not sure there were any/many EVs when I first started going to Anglesey...but there were plenty of plastic-bodied cars that could have gone up in flames at any time
But there was usually one or two vehicles that didn't 'fit in'!
Love that pic. Is that the rear of a 340R disappearing off to the right? But there was usually one or two vehicles that didn't 'fit in'!
Must be insurance driven, cars in garages or crashing on track and not having the correct equipment and training to deal with an EV fire will drive up insurance if they could even get it.
If an EV did go up in flames it's not a quick painless job putting the fire out, don't they require smothering for days on end which isn't going to be an option for a race track leading up to other trackdays or ticketed race weekends.

Coincidence but an electric bus fire today in London will cause some frothing I expect.

Well that’s the Honda Jazz debut ruined. Another good reason to give Wales a swerve.
Just go and do the unofficial coastal circuit at midnight on the first Sunday of the month. Start line ? Waitrose carpark at Menai Bridge.
