VX220 Turbo to Z4M Roadster

Is this a car that could replace my vx without me regretting it? I love the car but it is used more as a toy and i have a clio 172 as a daily driver. I feel it's a bit of a waste now having two cars and am contemplating replacing the both with one nice car. The Z4M seems a more sensible car to use everyday and i can't see much else for the money that comes close. The running costs for my two cars would probably be similar to running just an M so that's not an issue. Can i expect similar performance from the M as my mildly tuned turbo? (It's around 270bhp per tonne with 260ft lb of torque). The vx is an occasion everytime i drive it even after 3.5yrs of ownership and the performance is all that is required for road use, would the M have the same appeal? Any thoughts would be appreciated and if anyone has gone from a vx220 to a z4m your experiences would be good to hear and may help make my mind up.
the M, if my memory is correct, about 220 -230 per ton, so is slower.
it will also be better build / have more noise damping etc so will feel slower as there is less of an assault on the senses.
the up side is that its easy to live with every day and you could comfortable drive the length of germany at 140mph only needing to stop when the tank runs dry
I'm guessing the vx is fun in a darty balletic way. the M is fun in a 'i've just wrestled a tiger' kinda way
drive one, its the only way to see if it suits you.

I test drove VX a few years back, it was a great car but ran out of steam about 90mph

Think you'll find the M fast enough then.
The M has 338BHP which helps punch a good hole in air compared to 250BHP cars, I tend to find most sporty car very similar below 60-70mph, but more power means the Z4M will pull much quicker at higher speeds.

I would have thought the Z4M R would be slower ... and feel slower ... a modified VX is decidedly quick ! That said, the Z4M is quick .... but certainly doesn't feel mega rapid.
I had a TVR Griffith 500 which felt in a different league (performance wise) to my Z4M R but, as has been pointed out, above 60mph the Z4M piles on speed with little effort and is deceptive as it is a very linear delivery .

Had a VXT (only Stage One mind), and bought the Z4MC. Didn't miss the VX one bit tbh. Admittedly I've made some changes to take my Z towards a more track-focussed machine, like the VX, but I don't think you'll be disappointed if you're looking for a little more refinement. The Z4M still gives plenty of thrills!
Had 2 Elise's and now have a Z4M Roadster which is going up for sale tonight
i loved the Lotus very very much but the only area you lose is steering feeling. The M is more than capable and the big bonus for me as I use mine all year round is the heated seats and the fact the roof goes up and down in 10 seconds which meant that i got a lot more roof down action at all times of the year.
The M will be slighly slower up to around 60-70 but after that the M comes into its own.

Thanks for the kind offer but i'm based in the midlands so it's a litle too far for me! Yeah i'm not expecting the M to have the same acceleration lower down but if both were doing say 40mph and foot to the floor i wouldn't have thought there would be much in it. The way it does 50-100 in 3rd for overtaking (on a track, obviously) is quite something.
