I would personally on the monthlies!

And yes sorry mate I meant you. Just had my silencers deleted and it sounds awesome!
I may have not read all on this it may be on a previous post, but why every month when it is clearly cheaper annually ?

How do you delete the silencers ?

I believe if you pay monthly you don't get hit by rises in the premium, which you would at the end of every annual agreement.

I'm interested in this too, as if I pull the trigger on the E61 I'm looking at tomorrow, it's a definite mod.

Monthlies are fixed and won't increase!

And silencers are cut out (4 of them massive weighing 15Kg each!) and replaced with straight through pipes. Wouldn't bother on the car with the eisennmann as it will sound meaty as it is but for a car that has stock pipes for me it has now transformed the car to what it should have been like from the factory.

15Kg each?! Jeez, that's heavy. I guess the straight pipes barely weigh 2Kg each? So that's a hefty weight saving, definitely something I'll be looking to do.

I've just put a deposit down on the E61 I saw on Saturday, so I should be picking it up next Saturday (or Friday, if I can take the day off work!)

So if I start paying £250per month it will remain the same for the time I own the car ?

Would a remap be a good option or is there any other performance improvement. although remap would invalidate any warranty I presume !

That's how I understand it, yes. How many miles has your car done? I didn't think it went up as high as £250/mo.

I don't really know much in this area, but I seem to remember reading an article about a tuning company (DMS?) that tuned an E60 up to 535bhp (or thereabouts.)

I'd be surprised if it makes a noticeable difference, it's a relatively small increase in a heavy car.

Although perhaps it does something to the torque curve to make it more accessible?

And yes, I imagine it would invalidate your warranty.

//edit: Here you go - review of DMS tuned M5. 548bhp, and about 30 more torques.

Hey Gazchap, did you take the plunge?

I did indeed. Picked it up last Saturday, haven't really driven it much yet other than the drive back home from Essex, but it's even better than my last E60 M5. Don't know why, but the exhaust sounds louder from in the cabin (but is still standard.)

Pics here.

Looking to get the silencers deleted now, and possibly swap the kidneys for some black trimmed ones.

Gazchap - that looks lovely! How many miles may I ask? Really like the red leather interiors on an M5

Thanks. It just ticked over 50,000 on the way home from the dealership.

Have been quoted £350 for the silencer delete, which I'm not sure is a good price.

Get yourself down to Hayward and Scott and get a new exhaust for £750.
Transforms the sound of the car. Not obtrusive at normal revs, but really sings when you give it some.

Lord I miss that M5!

Ha! You bought this from safwat cars right?

I nearly bought it from the owner before he decided to sell it via the dealer. I know some of the history and where it was looked after prior. Happy to chat over email. I also have pics of it from before it was prettified. Seemed to be a solid car.

Always interested to learn more about it - my e-mail address is just my username on here at gmail dot com smile

Yeah, it seems pretty solid. I'll be taking out the Mondial warranty on it anyway of course, but touch wood it seems OK so far!

Well done I hope you keep it longer than your last one and it is more reliable!

If you want to look over mine with black strakes let me know. And yes I paid £200 ish for my silencer delete so £350 is too much imo.

I'm aiming to keep this one for years. I'm thinking (perhaps somewhat foolhardy) that being a Touring it'll hold it's value better than the saloons do.

Where did you have yours done?

Was already like that when I bought the car. Some like the Black and White BMW badges with carbon effect but others have said they look a bit Naff.
