Cool railroad (train!) photos? You can do worse than google the work of O Winston Link in 1950s USA. Setting the railroad within the country of the time - drive throughs, street railways etc. He used complex lighting rigs iirc, to get his unique style.

I took these pics in Tokyo a few years ago. Returning to the UK and commuting on Southern from Surrey to London on the strike-riddled, stale-smelling, dull as ditchwater services took a bit of getting used to. Note the glove and cap wearing driver saluting from the green train.

As an aside, I watched a documentary a few years ago where he came out of retirement to do one last staged shot. At the end of it his flash array failed to go off... Ho hum...
