Quite a regular sight here off Bournemouth, crew training, acceptance trails, etc. The RNLI college is in Poole so I've been caught by the lifting bridges a few times with these boats coming and going past the Sunseeker factory. Usually I'm cycling when that happens so I get a chance to see what it is our donations pay for, and it's pretty impressive stuff."A lively and dramatic silent 8mm colour film record made by Commander George C Blundell of active service on board the battleship HMS Nelson in 1941 and 1942, culminating in Operation 'Pedestal' (10 - 15 August 1942) in which heavy losses in ships and men were sustained in a bold but costly effort to re-supply the besieged island of Malta."

Drone footage of the last of the US Navy's non-nuclear aircraft carriers that was in service (decommissioned 12th May 2009), USS Kitty Hawk being scrapped.
Once it's done that it's the turn of it's sister ship the USS John F. Kennedy.
(On 6th October 2021, John F. Kennedy and Kitty Hawk were sold for one-cent each to International Shipbreaking Limited.)

Possibly slightly off topic - very interesting talk by Tom Clancy to an NSA audience

Jon Olsson's hybrid super rib:
That's such an odd boat. What is it, 50ft long and it doesn't have a seperate loo on board? I'd be curious to know if Jon really does own it, or whether it's really owned by the manufacturer and loaned to him as a publicity thing. Seems such an odd choice, even for him.
