My new 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit review
Discussion
This is a serious question, but bear with me as it is "that old chestnut"
Is the interior still made from tacky plastic st?
Is the button layout still designed by pneumatic cannon fire into the car through the boot?
Had a 04 Jeep and whilst it was a pretty good drive the interior was shocking and the button placement infuriated me.
Door lock switches same as the window switches, but the window switches were in the centre console and the door locks were by the door pull handles meaning I was forever locking it whilst driving.
Then I would go to open the window at the centre console and open the rears first, as they were placed where you would expect fronts to be, then they either auto down but no auto up, or auto up but no auto down.
I do like the look of these new Jeeps though, they don't like a Kia or Hyundai like everyone else is churning out these days.

Another discovery 3 & evoque convert here ! Going for a new grey overland as the summit has too much chrome for my tastes. I've opted for the 0% jeep advance payment plan as it suits me financially and comes with an extra £1000 off and 3 years free servicing - if there's a catch to it I can't see it!. Try as hard as I can I can't seem to better around 10% off list - although 20% seems common in the nearly new ones, but they are exempt from both the 0% aap and pcp schemes. Am I looking in the wrong place ? Agree the earlier op's comment about evoque residuals as I've done quite nicely on mine too. Disco 4 just a bit too big, evoque just a bit too small with tragic ground clearance - yes I use my vehicles over fields etc, hence the jeep as my next choice ! Will feel strange as I've always had a land rover product outside my house for nearly 30 years !
I'd never heard of carwow so thanks for that - had half a dozen replies and the best is 14.2% off on finance, I haven't qualified it as yet, so don't know if that includes jeeps current 0% deals.
On a slightly separate note, what sort of mpg are owners getting in general day to day use ? I don't do much motorway driving, and off-road obviously doesn't count!
I understand we all drive differently of course - I managed about 31 on both my solo test drives, and about 34 on the RR Sport I was given by land rover for a weekend. I struggle to get much more than 35 on my 6 speed auto evoque and I'm a careful driver so that really aggravates me !

Thanks for that Ian, much appreciated. I used to also get 25 on the disco 3 (and 20ish with the mud tyres I needed at one stage for my job). My evoque mpg has only improved to the figure I stated recently with all the (unusual for me) motorway driving up and down to Jeep showrooms - it must have a premonition !!
What colour are you going for? Mine is 'Maximum Steel', with the blue/brown interior as per Pesty's photo above. This was one of the reasons for going for the Overland instead of Summit - my wife really likes this interior, but it isn't available on the Summit. As you say, the summit is also a bit too bling, and the extras included aren't really worth the additional cost to me.
We've done about 2500 miles now, and still really happy with the car. Everything still working, no issues at all. No regrets about changing from the Evoque, and not getting another Disco.

Maximum Steel is a kind of blue-ish colour from your photo ? As every single car I've owned over the last 20 years seems to have been gunmetal grey I guess it'll have to be Granite Crystal ! I was trying not to use the word 'bling' - but I live in a very rural area indeed, and turning up for a shoot with chrome wheels really would be a step too far for me (and my friends)! I've not seen your interior in real life, but it looks lovely and a bit different. However there seems to be a bit of a shortage of GC stock choice at the moment so I've a feeling it will be a black interior or nothing !
I got my new Summit last wek in Granite Crystal.
I got about £7k off which I was happy with and bought from their newly arrived dockside stock, given the 6 month leadtime quoted for bespoke orders.
Very pleased so far - very comfy and easy to drive and more toys than you can possibly imagine!

4K off full list inc paint is the best I can manage. That becomes £5000 if I include jeep's £1000 contribution in their 0% app scheme (which I favour). I can reach the magic 7k but only if I take their pcp at 3.8%, which takes another £2000 jeep contribution off the price - the end figures then work out about the same. I'm getting the feeling I'm not doing as well as I should - but am I worrying about nothing as this is actually how people are arriving at their quoted discounted price ? Time's getting on and I could do with ordering before the dockside is empty !

Sorry to drag this thread back up but I found it a while ago and it was helpful in helping me decide on my next car.
I purchased a 6 mth old (reg April 16) GC Overland last weekend with the advanced safety pack fitted – adaptive cruise, blind spot, assisted braking etc. I originally wanted a new 75th anniversary and via Car wow was offered just over 20% from list but that still put it just over 40k, the car I’ve purchased was a fair few thousand less for the sake of 6 mths and a different gear selector , the only slight negative being that it’s white which has grown a lot on me but wasn’t my first choice colour wise. I pick it up on Saturday and am really looking forward to getting to know it, coming from a 2007 330i M-sport touring it’s going to be a touch different. My wife has a MY16 Evoque dynamic and whilst elements of the interior are inferior on the GC it felt a lot more solid and just as good on the road despite it’s size.
Biggest selling point for me was the sheer level of spec you get for your money and IMHO it’s a great looking car. How are the purchasers in this thread finding theirs after some time has now passed?

Still very much enjoying mine. I drove down to Chamonix in March in one go and stepped out feeling relaxed. It coped well in the snow, even on summer tyres (I had chains in the back just in case).
The only problem I have had is the seats losing their memory function, but if you disable the easy access setting and cycle the seats all the way forward and all the way back, it fixes it.
Other than that, faultless.

Because some people had difficulty finding park instead of reverse?
It didn't bother me on the test drive tbh.
I think the issue is that sometimes it appears to be in Park but isn't, and sometimes it wouldn't shift into Park at all.It didn't bother me on the test drive tbh.
It affects Americans more as they regard the "hand" brake as an emergency brake so don't routinely use it.
Hi all, bringing this up as I am considering a used m.y 2014-on Overland or Summit.
Can someone summarise what the issue (or non issue) the T style gear selector presents? Can current owners and OP comment on whether finding reverse or park make them want to rip the selector off the console or they really regard the change to a conventional one as baffling over reaction?
Thanks
