Warnings before viewing

I remember many years ago in the early days of Channel 4 they used to put out similar warnings before programmes/films containing nudity.
As a young testosterone filled lad, they became a must watch
Yeah, Channel 4 had a warning red triangle for certain films like the totally insane Themroc. Only saw it once at the time, but one that sticks in the mind. As a young testosterone filled lad, they became a must watch
Warning, the folliowing film contains cannibalism and all manner of madness

After the events with the bolting horses yesterday I noticed yet another warning on news feeds of "distressing viewing" or similar. They were bolting horses one with a bit of blood. Last night, Emmerdale Farm (before I got to the remote) had a warning for "disturbing scenes". I also saw a documentary on the holocaust and that had a warning!
Isn't this just a bit stupid? Do we not have a 9 o'clock watershed for "adult" stuff anymore? Why does everything need a warning, can people not cope with a bit of life's reality? Even the news has warnings everywhere. Are we that feeble minded these days? No wonder people claim to have "mental health" issues.
The only warnings I think should come to tell you an insurance comparison advert will come on shortly so you can turn it off.
Choosing to be annoyed by this is a bit like seeing a dog turd in the street and deciding to step in it rather than going around it and then being angry that you stepped in dogst! Can't remember if it was Ch4 or Ch5 but some film used to have a red triangle in the top corner.
I don't know why this isn't used more. The Martin Clunes travelogue on Ch5 is very good but Mrs P was reluctant to watch the latest two because of pre-warnings. Both turned out to be trivial and not really offensive at all, and only about five or ten seconds of an hour programme. Why can they just beep and show a red triangle for the duration of the questionable content is beyond me, and a great shame as both episodes have actually been excellent. Trouble is it's becoming like the boy that cried wolf now and just gets ignored when really it should be saved for truly (subjectively) dodgy content.

I suspect it has never put anybody off watching anything but I believe that is not its purpose. There are so many professional offence takers around today ready to castigate anybody or anything that doesn't conform to their approved group think. Thus I think the broadcasters add these "warnings" solely so they can point out to anyone claiming to be upset by these trivialities that they were warned and it's on them if they watched it anyway.

I think I can recall the warning of scenes of "strong emotion" a few times before Emmerdale. It's now ridiculous.
They don't war about the bad acting though vixen1700 said:
