We’re travelling to a function in June, south of S de Compostella via Santander ferry. Thinking of spending 4-5 days to drive over from ferry to Galicia, the function, then back eastwards to France for some southern France touring.
Any recommendations/ suggestions on routes, towns to visit, hotels, must-sees/ avoids etc etc. Should we stay in Galicia longer, or even drop down into northern Portugal, or spend longer in northern Spain in general?
Thanks in anticipation….

Excellent…just the sort of info I’m looking for, thanks!
I should have said that on our sole previous trip to Santander we went up to the Picos and up the cable car and back, but no further east or west.
So San Sebastián, Bilbao, Logrono and Biarritz are definites so far.

That is brilliant tobinen, thanks for sharing! That’s several more towns/routes added.
Hope you get sorted for your forthcoming return trip.

Thanks everyone for some great recommendations. I’ve now extended our itinerary from simply spending a few days getting from Santander ferry port to our function near Pontevedra and then heading eastwards to France straight away, to now spending a couple of weeks in N Spain taking in all of your suggestions!
Staying in a few Brittany ferries recommended hotels, a few Paradores and the rest still to book.

A final question please…is it worth dropping down into Northern Portugal whilst we’re over in Galicia, or save that for another trip.
