When was he ‘struggling to beat Yuki”
I’ll point out at this stage that, maybe excepting one-off drives, no F1 driver has ever beaten their team mate in every session.

Willing to bet in the race(s) this weekend, saving any third party factors, DR proves to be quickest and will place higher. I think he's got his eye in on the car now.
Needless to say neither driver will place very high, the cars' back to being practically useless on this circuit.
Dan said he made a mistake in Qualy yesterday and we saw it on the onboard
Today Yuki outqualified and outraced him scoring decent points.
What, if anything, have we learned?
Aston went back to the old car so both drivers able to drive it better, Battling alot allowed Stroll to catch up a bit
Decent number 2 is a point of view he should be a solid second every race to Max in that car.

Never driven the track before is such an excuse. How long does it take to learn? You can see where all the other drivers are placing the car as well.
Maybe its the same as fan never been to track before. Wheres the bogs and where is the best viewing point?
They are both similar issues I guess lol.
I reckon we are seeing that piastri is a competent learner with visible/invisible manager depending on his result.
And norris is just fast like a max.

Doesn't matter how good the sim tools are, someone who's never been will always be at a disadvantage compared to someone who has (and several times). Especially with only one practice session.
I've noticed that Norris is a driver who climbs all over the curbs for example, that's the kind of thing that you can only really learn from experience- sure, they're laser scanned and simulated but it's knowing what kind of grip there is on and over the curbs and how the car rides them in real life.

4 Points scoring finishes to 1 for Yuki in races v Daniel
I think he's had a decent season.
Where are you getting those stats from? I think he's had a decent season.
He had one points finish, 7th in Mexico which got him the six points he finished the season on.
He's been mediocre at best, outperformed by Yuki and has done nothing to justify his seat next year.

Yuki seemed to get himself together in the second half of the season. Hopefully he can sustain that next year and motivate Daniel to up his game.
Interesting interview with Franz Tost on BtG, where he rates Ricciardo as a driver with great technical feel and knowledge, as well as a matured and determined person, Yuki on the other hand as a driver who relies too much on his considerable talent, but still immature and not determined enough. Says after three years a driver is either ready for RedBull (or the like, with all possible pressure on them) or never.
This from a man who worked (and built) a few WCs as well as many gp winners, so he should know.
In the latter part of their teammateship Yuki didn't exactly blow him off, but had definitely the edge.
Next year with the RB19 spin off and Yuki keeping his outbursts in check it will be even more clear that Yuki is on a trajectory and DannyRic, well, not

Why do people keep saying next years AT will be a RB19 spin off, the rules don’t allow it. It’ll gain its front suspension but will in reality be a very different car.
I think it’s simply that AT did not take all of the allowed parts from Red Bull this year (most notably the pull-rod front suspension) but next year it will. I think this reflects the original strategy to prepare AT for a sale, so it needed more independence, but this has now been ruled out. As you say though, all the chassis and bodywork must be AT’s own work.Agreed. I was advocating for him to be back and at this point I can't see any advantage over having Lawson in that car.
With the VCARBs perceived performance increase the whole team have been underwhelming but last race watching DR tour round at the back and do nothing at all just seems pointless.
I'd even say sack off DR, put Perez in that car and let Lawson have the Red Bull drive.

DR has utterly perplexed me. Pretty much everything else in F1, and the various drivers career journeys make sense to me, I can rationalise it.
DR...? Nope. He still has flashes of great potential but it's as if he's asleep 90% of the time. There's also plenty of evidence that those with the data believe in the potential, they must do, they keep paying him insane amounts of money and now Horner and Marko have bought him back to the RB family. What is it these decision makers are seeing that convinces them? And whatever it is, how come it doesn't translate into being an actual good driver?
